I live in Willard, in Carter Country KY. Very close to Lawrence and Elliott Counties. I can drive 5 minutes from the house, to a place called Brushy and on about any given night see a couple Copperheads cross the road. I have a lot of places I don't hunt as much in the Summer, simply because of snakes. Luckily I still have some decent hunting that's not to infested with snakes, where I can tree a couple coons and call it a night. Around here coons are thin, most of the woods are pretty thick, and about all of it is up-hill. Grayson has some decent hunting, and not to far from it is Boyd and Greenup County and they seem to have about the same terrain, maybe a little better but a lot more coons. You'd figure the heat, hills, or briars would stop most but SNAKES keep quite a few coon hunters on the couch during the Summer around here!!

Pike County

I live on Elkhorn Crk in Pike County. I try and hunt every other night. I used to hunt weekends only til 3 weeks ago I was in a big layoff that James River Coal has. So now I hunt and ginseng til I can find work. Been treeing coon close to creeks. Polk berries are rippening up well and have had some luck striking close to them. Havnt had any snake encounters all summer and usally end up having atleast one hound bit. Rough hunting terrain here STEEP !!!!!
