-- male vs female ? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928327242)
male vs female ?
Was talking with an older hunter the other day and we talked dogs, training etc. and I have really been wondering about something. He believes that a female dog is easier to train than a male, doesn't run as much trash, started faster and so on. Just curious if anyone else feels this way and if there's any truth to it.

Has nothing to do with the sex of the dog. If it's the right kind....it's the right kind.

That's what both of my grandpas and my dad always told me. I believe it in some ways than others. My grandpas hunted coons to put food on the table so I believe they knew what they were talking about lol!!

That's kind of how I feel as well. Its either in them or its not. But I too have herd this a lot since I was a boy from a lot of hunters.

I think the males I have started have started faster than the females but I like females and when you have a good female you have something that to me is better than any male you could get and they hold there value and are the foundation of all good breeders!!!! Also I just haven't seen near as many problems in comp with females!! Seems like your always waiting for when your male is going to come up on a bully and then you wonder what is he going to do and I can assure even the best males will get tired of being chewed on and start chewing back!!! Jmo I will stick with my females !!
I don't no about easier to train,i believe if their bred to do it and have the opportunity, thats all u need.ive always preferred females because theres so many studs, that if u have a good female u hold the key to breeding and can have the choice of who to breed to or when.not taking anything from males,i just think its more of a asset to have a good female.
