Craigslist Scam

We had a B&T pup on here a couple of weeks ago. We weren't geting a lot of movement on him so I put him on Craigslist. Had a guy from CA texting me and said he would buy him. A couple of days latter he texted and said he had accidently sent too much money and wanted me to wire the extra back to him. That sent up a red flag. So I did a little research and found out this scam happens a lot. They will want your name and adress so they can put it on the money order. It will take your local bank about 2 weeks or so to figure out the money order is fake. Then guess what, he has the money you sent him back. When I stoped texting the guy back he must have got wise and never sent the money order. All of this may just be common sense to a lot of you, but to be honest I almost fell for it.

I didn't think you can sell dogs on CL? Around here its a "rehoming" thing.

people has figured out that they can charge a rehoming fee and still be considered in the guidelines of craigslist...........as far as the scam thing above.... that is part of the everyday craigslist life.........surely people know better than to fall for scammers by now!!!

Gottcha!

Seems that CL would NOT be a good place to try and sell pups. Seems like its better to just give them away. At least you can feel like your pups went to someone who wants them instead of taking a chance of them winding up with people who would try to make a dollar.

I have been trying to sale a old Kawasaki mule on craigslist for a little while. Atleast 4 times a week I get a text from someone showing the area code to be in California, Wisconsin, Colorado, or some other state on the other side of the country. I live in South Eastern KY. Well on their 2nd reply they ask the condition, and say they are such and such with some fancy job. Then EVERY one of these will give the same text as the payment plan. They ask for my pay pal account and they will send movers to come get it. Well, it sounded fishy the first time now as soon as I see a text that shows up with a different area code I automatically tell them, " No I don't use pay pal" and they never text back lol....

3 years ago I was looking for a pup trainer and tried out a few with no luck. I seen one on craigslist and figured it couldn't be very good for a price of $300 but called and talked to the old man and arranged to take the dog out on trial and I was very impressed. The dog was better than he described. But u can't trust everyone cause a lot of people are just out to rob you blind.
