Congrats John Simota, MN State Championship

Just wanted to congratulate John Simota on his first place win Friday night, and for being the high scoring dog of the hunt, of those dogs being entered through the random draw process.
John has been away from the comp scene for these last several years, but I and many others owe our success to dogs off of his bloodlines and breedings.

Purina contenders are not subject to random drawing. At our state hunt and annual meeting there was a fair amount of folks who are not thrilled that having the Purina contenders at our hunt largely precludes any of the locals from having any real chance of winning. I mean, it could happen, but in all reality not too likely. Even this years World Champion couldn't get a cast win. It isn't that I want to take anything away from these dogs, in fact I am conceding that the Purina dogs are operating on such a high level that we can't really compete. Like pros hunting against amateurs. But we didn't go to our state hunt to win the world, we went to win the state. I like the Purina format as far as how it affects THEIR race, but I feel bad for guys who at our state or any other state have a dog put on a great performance only to be overshadowed by a dog that is clearly in the top 1% of any dogs in the country.
So I am not trying to short change the Purina dogs, I guess I just feel like we have the NCAA championship basketball tourney going on simultaneously to the NIT tourney.
Happy for Jody,he obviously is toting a powerful hound.
Happy for John, cause he is my friend and I am proud of his accomplishments.
