bears

Just wondering if any coonhunters have had any bears come in on them while hunting. I've had it happen twice to me and my eight year old son. We were hunting a single dog when he came of the tree bugar barking behind us when about a 200 pounder came in and circled us and left.second time we just had cut same dog lose and a bigger bear came in and bluff charged us the dog got between us and keep him off US that night. I nearly crqpped my pants that night.

yea, there a real pain here. I wish FWC would open a season here. More bear than coons. Most are not scared of people or dogs.

All over here. I saw yesterday evening an according to our smart Dnr. The population is exploding. No crap! Knew that for yrs. They just figured it out lol. Killed 500 and something here last yr. Most were in north Ga. We can't dog em here and kill em either. Even though we have millions of ac of public land. They can dog them in a few counties in South Ga and that's where the great big ones are killed.

I'm not far from you in Hardy VA and I have some "coon dogs" that love running bears. Message me and we will go coon hunting one night I can't really help it if they were to run a bear.

A few years back I was hunting was treed in a branch bottom. I was squalling trying to get the coon to look again when I heard something running toward me through the woods. Turned around and could see some eyes looking at me from about 50 yards (luckly it was clear in that bottom). I put my spotlight on it and could see it was a large bear. I hollered at it and it just turned and ambled off in the direction of my truck. I always figured it was a boar looking to take a cub bear away from the dog to eat it, since a sow thinking the dog had her cub would not have stopped.
