Redbone History

Anyone hear of Melton's Red Fire Ball or Jim's Peckerwood Sadie?

Melton's Red Fireball is somewhat of a legend and you will see him on a lot of pedigrees.Offspring from him have done well down through the years as is noted in some of the pedigrees of today's hounds.

Pappy explained Fireball very well...... Peckerwood sadie was a awsome reproducing female that threw dogs such as Fireball II and Pikins red Rooster!

If my memory serves-

correct, Rooster was killed by a train. You'd have to confirm that with Joe Pipkins. Lots of Dual Grand Redbones went to their grave with under 100 pups. I don't remember Rooster ever been pimped in the mags much. You don't brag, you don't get breedings.

That's why I never read ads to pick a stud hound and never breed to a hound I never saw with my own eyes. Unless he's owned by a man whose judgement I personally trust. And I NEVER take another man's word on a hound- good or bad. I'd rather breed to a set of papers than that.
