Kennel Names?
Why do so many people find them important? It seems rather unneccessary for the vast majority of hound hunters. Don't most people remember dog names or lines instead of kennel names? EI: Dave dean dogs are normally refered to as "hammer" bred dogs by people I am around. Not "northern blue kennel" bred. I think that's the right name of his kennel. Just wondering. I've had hound dogs for 17 years and never thought I needed a kennel name.
I run my kennel as a business so I had to have a name for it

I have a kennel name so that I have a real name for my website, but my dogs dont have my kennel name in their name.
I think people reffer to them as "Hammer" bred dogs instead of "northern blue kennel" because of a certain dog and not the whole bloodline.
there are people in the redbone breed that like OUTLAW bred dogs, or YELLOW RIVER, or FIREBALL, but yet there are people that like dogs out of a certain dog...
it is A LOT HARDER to get people to like a whole kennel of dogs than it is to get people to like ONE DOG

That's pretty much my point. I think it's a "status" thing for most of them. I do understand the business license side of it, though.

Kennel name
In PKC people do it because they dont want to hunt against son hunting buddy or whatever so all of their dogs are registered to a kennel name instead of individuals because dogs that are registered in the same name cant be casted together.
I know of some great dogs that are remembered by their kennel name...Cabin Creek. .....Grand Lake......Lightfoot. ......Daybreak. ....Lol ok that one was a stretch
but it won't be long. We see our kennel name kinda like a family name....when you see a Daybreak hound you know that's James Chandlers hound family.
