flushing dogs eyes

what do people use to clean or flush eyes out after a hard run?

Hi Jason Prater, First of all I want to thank you and Andy Jones for the amazing hound I got from you guys. Hill Shakers Little Candy Girl has been awesome in everything I run her in. She is 4.5 years old now and she is my pride and joy and I wouldn't take anything for her. I have been trying to find a stud dog to breed her to but, I'm still looking. When I run My hound and she needs her eyes flushed out I take a bottle of room temperature water and spray it in her eyes, flushing them out. Then if the eyes are not raw or any open cuts around the eye I will apply a couple of sterile eye drops to each eye. It works for people and it works for my hound. Sometimes my hound will make it's own tears and they get flush out that way. I think a hound needs some help with things like that so Jason hope I have help you a little.

i have been using a bauch and lomb product called persistent dry eye my vet told me to use ... would like to find some stuff that has no perservative type stuff...like a distilled water...thanks

Contact solution right outta the bottle , pour it in and move around the eye lids, works great.

Haven't had the guts to try this BUT an old freind (SAM FRY) told me they used to wash their Bird Dogs eyes out with salt water, He said salt does NOT bother a dog, but I KNOW what it feels like........ Thats why I havent tried it.
