Performance Program

Can UKC or any one tell me why the points value keeps going down. I remember around last March the value per point was around $150.00 per point now it is at $128.00, thanks.

I'd guess the points being earned are outpacing the money being paid in.

You can pay up more dogs and make the point value go up, guaranteed.

I believe this performance program (Though I'm not complaining) is somewhat similar to a pyrimid scheme. The point value will continue to fall so long as the number of dogs drawing money out of the program, exceed the number of dogs paying into the program.

Look at it like this. You have one stud dog who produces 6 pups per litter. Of those six pups, lets say two make good enough to compete in competition and earn performance money. You nominate your hound for 150.00. Divide his nomination fee between the two pups that are now receiving money from their winnings, the price per point has no alternative but to decrease in value, so long as one or more pups in a litter make good enough to earn money back.

Probably could be explained much better than I just did but that is kinda my take on this.

How much? Stud dog fees add to the pot, as do puppy fees. I wonder if requiring pups to be paid up at six months, at a cost of $25.00, would increase the pot. I know lots of performance pups aren't ever paid up, you know how coon hunters procrastinate, if they were required to be paid up at six months it might add lots more to the pot. Just thoughts. Tom

It goes down because new pups keep coming along while the older dogs keep getting the money also..Only way to fix it is put a age limit on dogs that can win money.Well you could increase fees..That would work also..

Performance Point Dollars

The $'s per point will go down as more dogs are enrolled in the program.

The more successful the program is (participation wise), the lower the point value will be. Even though there may be more $'s going into the program, there will be a lot more dogs eligible to earn points. So, we get a bigger pot, but more people and dogs sharing it.

It's a better program than the Superstakes for "almost all people".
