Garmin collar not charging

Last night I received the message of "low battery" so I charged the collar overnight and the blue light was still on this morning. Anyone else have this happen? Did you contact Garmin and what was the result?

Thanks

Andy

Clean the charging port real good with a tooth brush, sounds like their might be some dirt around it.

only thing ive heard is to clean the charging port with a old toothbrush.theres no cover and dirt and grime gets in there and keeps it from taking a charge

Never ask a man what kind of dog he has. If he has a hound he'll tell you, if he does not, you don't want to shame him by asking.

If there was dirt in the port, wouldn't that prevent the blue light from coming on? I thought as long as the blue light was on it was charging. I thought it was strange I got the "low battery" warning as I usually keep a good charge on it. Just wondering if my collar defective.

You may need to disconnect the battery for a few seconds and then reconnect it. Call garmin and they will tell you where to find the instructions for that on the internet.

Removed the metal plate and disconnected the white wire for about 5 minutes and reassembled. This seems to have fixed the problem as it took the charge this morning.

Thanks for the help
Andy

Don't go to all that trouble of disconnecting things. This is fairly common and doesn't hurt anything. After it's been on the charger for 4 to 6 hrs take it off and turn it on along with your hand held and check the info page and see if it has a full charge. It may do the light staying on thing a few times and then never do it again or it may do it again sometimes. I have one collar that will do it every now & then. I've been told this is fairly common it's no big deal. I wouldn't leave it on the charger over 6 hrs even if the light doesn't go off.

Off the subject.

Me and a friend went to Walmart and got a bike inertube. We cut it so that it would fit over the charging part. But made it short enough you could still see the red light's blinking. That helped keep the dirt out and you won't have to clean them as often. Hope this helps it is a cheap easy fix.
