Coonhunting books?

There seems to be a lack of good hunting books out there imo. Especially coonhunting books. Double that for kids books. What coonhunting books do you all know of besides "Where the Red Fern Grows"? I've got one called "Ozark Night Calls" thats good. Thanks.

books

a few good kids books about hunting are "Hound-dog Man" Fred Gipson, "Lion Hound" Jim Kjelgaard, "Bristle Face", will have to look at it for author, Jim Kjelgaard has several more but those are my favorite...some other hunting books that arent really kids books are "Back Tracking" by I.T. Taylor, out of texas, awesome book, and "Ben Lilly Legend", by Frank Dobie...all good books, hounddog man and back tracking are my favorites...

Thanks for the leads! Any others? If not it kind of proves my point!

Fred Gipson (author of Old Yellar and Hound Dog Man) also wrote Savage Sam, while not about coonhunting it does feature the son of Old Yellar and he is half hound, when the kids are kidnapped by Indians...Oops, I meant to say Native Americans :-), Savage Sam tracks them to find the kids.

Bob Plott, great great great grandson of Johannes Plott has written 2 books based on hunting with hounds; The Story of the Plott Hound:Strike and Stay is one based on the Plott Hound's history and the other book is A History of Hunting in the Great Smokey Mountains.

Another good book is The Voice of Bugle Ann, I have this book and movie. There is a sequel book called Daughter of Bugle Ann that I plan to purchase this year. These books are about hounds and hunting but are based on Fox Hunting, not fancy fox hunting with horses but old time, nighttime, fox hunting.

Theres a kids book called Bowser the Hound.

Frank Methven (maybe it's Menhaven?) wrote a book, I think the name is The Sound of Hills??? He wrote good articles in Cooner about Big Game hunting, I imagine this book is about Big Game hunting.

There is another book about old time fox hunting called Stories of Old Traveller, I'd love to read it but it sells for big bucks as it is considered a "rare book".

Another book I have seen but not read is "Slash Ranch Hounds", it appears to be based on big game hunting as well.

Haunted Heritage is a book with North American ghost stories, a friend of mine tells me that one of them is based on a coonhunting trip that went bad, I have not read this book yet.

* Movies - I mentioned earlier about the movie The voice of Bugle Ann, it's great! Another movie that is based on coonhunting is Soggy Bottom USA, funny stuff and worth watching if you enjoy a good movie.

If you can ever find them the books by O.L. Beckham (I believe there where 3 of them) have several coonhunting stories.
