question
i just got a 15 month old pup. ive only had him for about 2 weeks and have hunted him 4 nites so far due to bad weather.. the last nite i took him i was hunting with two other dogs.. we was walking into the tree and heard the dogs fighting... which one of them was mine.. we put them back up on tree and he snapped at another dogs foot when it got close and growled a lil.. its only happened once, but im kinda worried about it.. ive talked to ppl that say theyve never had any luck straighten this problem out.. any suggestions??
No "CULL" him post yet?
WOW I'm really suprised there hasnt been some post on here telling you to "cull" him by now.
Which BTW isnt always the answer. There should be some guys on here though that will give you good suggestions & advice.

Put the dog on a tree with another dog and if he acts up slap him up beside the head and tell him no. Do not tolerate ANY mess from him on the tree and maybe he will clam down and be ok. If he won't quit then your choices are very limited.

My male did this one time (he was only 7 months old at the time)My buddy stomped him real good, then turned his dog loose and left mine on his lead walked him into the next tree and tied him back so he had to watch my buddies dog get the fur, my buddy told me to walk him out just out of reach of the coon,Being stomped and shamed in the same night must have been enough because I've seen dogs climb on him at the tree and he doesn't even look twice, My friend also told me that it can't be you that stomps him it has to be someone else, keeps them from being light broke, says they never know whos going to come out of the dark and mite put the boots to them.

ok
thanks for the advice..my buddu i hunt with told me to smack him in the head. but i was jus kinda afraid of doing that since hes a pup. didnt want to be smacking him on the tree and make him not want to tree. i know he should be alot more advanced at 15 months old but hes only been out about ten times. kinda new to the training a dog... coon hound anyways..
what jeff means when he said "light broke" is some dogs will fight and be rough at the tree until they see your light headin into the tree, then they quit and act fine. just thought you mighta wondered. good luck with him.
yea
ive heard of my buddies talk about it.. would getting a hide and putting it a rope in a tree and get another dog out with him in the daylight be better than doing it at nite??
