Weight ?

How do you keep weight on a lactating female. My friends female just had a litter and now she looks all scrawny.

Feed her puppy chow.

I double the normal amount that she gets before she was ever pregnat.

I start all my preg females on Pride puppy 3 weeks be4 they have pups plus cod liver oil an bitch pills an calcium an Vit C, I start be4 I breed them an they stay in great shape,but any kind of good puppy chow works great I just feed Pride ,an a preg female will drink 3 times more water so make sure she has all the fresh water she can drink ,im sure u know this but im just tryin to help out ,not telling u what to do at all but this is what i do........Kent W

go get some hole chickens boil them strain the bones out and mix with her feed along with the broth she will pick her weight up

My buddies female just whelped a litter and he started her on puppy chow about a week before the pups were born and kept her on it through the nursing and always kept her 2 or 3 pans of water and she looked like a holstein!
