Autumn Oaks Question

I hope someone can explain what this means: "one-night hunt run off in two nights"

I think it's the highest scoring dog out of both nights that wins. You can hunt both nights.

although it is a 2 night hunt it is treated as though it is only a one night hunt.all the registered results are put in to one pile and dogs are placed according to scores 1-10 place.The same for nite champ 1-3 and gr nt ch for over all national gr nt ch.hope this helps

It's considered one hunt,but because of it's size they have elected to use two nights to get it done. Unless I'm mistaken you can't hunt the same dog both nights. I do believe you can hunt another dog the opposite night yourself or if you have handlers they could be hunted the same night.

A.O. hunt

You can hunt both nights with two different hounds.You cannot hunt the same hound both nights.You take the two high scoring dogs from both nights and have a one hour hunt off.The high scoring dog at the end of the hour is your winner.The only way you can hunt the smae dog both nights is if you are one of the two high scoring dogs from Friday nights hunt.I think that is how it goes.

All dogs hunt only one night....dogs that hunt on Friday, are competing for high score against dogs that hunt on Saturday.

My least favorite format. A few years ago, I hunted on Friday night in the NT CH class....had the high scoring dog on Friday night. The weather was "marginal" at best on that Friday..thunderstorms and pouring rain....

When Sunday morning rolled around for the awards, I didn't even place..... SO, when and if they ever change the format...I'll start entering dogs in Autumn Oaks again...I can't compete with different weather on a different night!

Mr. Wilson,

Pat Dale and Oakridge are correct. It's one hunt that's ran over two nights. The same dog may only hunt one of the two nights. There is no hunt-off or anything of that nature.

Oakridge, unfortunately, the weather is beyond our control. You might just be a first to use that theory as your reason not to hunt your hounds in the grandaddy event of the year.

Not throwing stones at the event...it is thte "grand daddy"....

That's not my only reason....usually I'm too tired from a week of "festivities" and pleasure hunting to even think two hours of competition hunting.

I'm sure that there is a huge amount of satisfaction from winning such an event....
