Michigan hunters-cell phone question

We are looking to switch service from Verizon, depending on reception in the woods. We had T-mobile and had some issues north of I-69.

Can you throw out some ideas as to who is working for you and who isn't? And where you are?

Thank you!

We've had Nextel here for a few years. I have found that some areas that I liked to hunt at (state land) service was not very readily present. They ahve a vewry good statewide service however. I haev been all over the state, and have only lost signal at a few locations, and Roaming was never as issue, they don't have it.

I just signed a contract with Alltel, so I am not sure how their service will be, I am hoping it is good.

I have nextel too, and my recepetion is really spotty. In low spots I usually signal completely in the woods. And in cold nights My phone usually dies before I make it back to the truck ... buts tahts just the phone. lol

mobile phones

I have had Nextel for over 7 years, and every year it improves with the addition of more towers installed. I have talked from Michigan to Florida, Ga to FL, patience is about all I can say. The deerdog hunters around here went to marine radios instead of the cb radios and some of them have talked 25 miles, but that is on occasion, 5-10 realisticly.............the handheld marine are ok but the power isn't there. Hope that helps.

I have Centennial and I get pretty good reception everywhere. I have went as far north as the Bridge and as far south as Orangeburg for the Grand American. I had reception everywhere except a couple of times in West V. because of the ( BIG HILLS )and when I go to the woods it goes with me and I have never had a problem. I think their coustomer service sucks, but I don't deal with them very often.
