Is she comparing hog hunting to dog fighting?

I have dealt with pitbulls my whole life for hog hunting only. I got rid of all them once I started seeing the decline of the breed. Our local classfieds has atleast 5 listings this week. They are mass marketed now as a status symbol.

I saw the interviewed Tom Garner. The right guy to interview, he would know. Another guy that lives in my town would also be a wealth of knowledge on fighting.

She was comparing hog catching contests to fighting. Pretty close to the same. I know, I used to do it. Not a good class of people to be around. Lots of "gansters" wanted to prove their dog could catch a hog.

Dog fighting and culture

I spoke with the reporter for nearly an hour and almost nothing I said was reported accurately. What I said was this: Thomas Sowell wrote a book called "Black Rednecks and White Liberals." In that book, he offered the theory that hip hop culture is the product of redneck culture (what my Grandmother used to refer to as "white trash") adopted by some southern blacks and transplanted with them when they moved to the cities. So it should not be a surprise that dog fighting appears among the criminal elements of both cultures, and whether the dog fighters are rural whites or urban blacks, dog fighting is wrong and should be eradicated. The subject of hunting was never raised during the interview.

I have spent the past three days talking to reporters. They call because of my dog knowledge and then ask me questions like, "Do you think Michael Vick should be allowed to play football again?" I am trying to focus the interviews so that these people understand that pit bulls are just regular dogs, but it's very hard to keep reporters focused on one issue at a time! I hope this clarifies things for you.

ill say this pitbulls are good dawgs i grew up with a pit he was awsome the best babysitter i ever had know i have one named spanky he is so fun to have happy all the time and wants nothin but lovin from ya hell hes gotten attached to yr old nephew chance theyll layy on the ground and chance pulls on his lips ears everything and spanky nudges him around my brother was allright with me now his wife threw a fit started actin up and spanky got inbetween her and chance she freaked even worse i told her calm down act normal hes just protectin chance once she settled down spanky went right back to playin with chance and she realized nothin was goona happen know she is allright my brother told her i had away with dawgs i coulxc get them to do anything i wanted so she is more relaxed know with my bud spanky
to train any dawg you have to be smarter then the dawg

HSUS wants in

The Humane Society of the United States has mounted a huge campaign to
raise money to care for the dogs rescued from Michael Vick's
dogfighting ring. The plea comes complete with a heartbreaking picture
of one of the injured dogs. (Not surprisingly, studies have shown that
people donate more when shown a picture of or told a story about a
single animal needing help. HSUS is very clever at fundraising.) But
before you contribute, please note:

1) There is a disclaimer in fine print at the bottom of the form which
says your donation may be used for other HSUS programs and may not be
used to help the dog fight victims.
2) There has been no accounting for the nearly $20 million HSUS raised
for the Katrina dogs and cats. The organization is under investigation
by the Louisiana Attorney General for their handling of that situation.

3) HSUS has NO shelter. It is a corporate office building in Washington
DC. It is supposedly "overseeing" the care of the dogs that were seized
from Vick's house, but we don't know where the animals are, Will the
shelter actually providing their care receive all the donations this
campaign generates?

4) There is no reason to believe that your contributions will go to
help the dogs seized from Michael Vick or any other dogs or cats. HSUS
spends most of its money on legislative efforts to make dog breeding
impossible and pet ownership more difficult, more expensive, and more
dangerous and someday, when they reach their goals of spaying and
neutering all pets, there will be no dogs and cats in this county. Only
those few who are willing to go underground and puppymillers who import
them from outside the country will have
pets to sell at great prices
greatly shrinking gene pools and producing pets with even greater
genetic problems then even the puppymills of today.

5) HSUS claims its servers crashed from the response to their first
appeal for money for these dogs, yet they are still out there beating
the drum for more money, still claiming more is needed for the Vick
dogs.

And if you are still considering writing that check, read the following
quotes from Wayne Pacelle, president of HSUS- "I don't have a hands-on
fondness for animals...To this day I don't feel bonded to any non-human
animal. I like them and I pet them and I'm kind to them, but there's no
special bond between me and other animals." quoted in Bloodties:
Nature, Culture and the Hunt by Ted Kerasote, 1993, p. 251.

"We have no problem with the extinction of domestic animals. They are
creations of human selective breeding." quoted in Animal People, May,
1993.
When asked if he envisioned a future without pets: "If I had my
personal view, perhaps that might take hold. In fact, I don't want to
see another dog or cat born." Wayne Pacelle quoted in Bloodties:

Where are the millions in contributions they already receive every
year? If you have money to contribute, please send it to your **local**
shelter. Donations received by local shelters do help animals. The
money sent to HSUS does not.
