Personal Check Notice From RRK

I would like to post a message on here concerning PERSONAL CHECKS !!!!!!!
.....As a whole most people you deal with are honest people. But during this age of time with forgery taking place with checks, credit cards, etc. you never know anymore. Here @ Rocky Road Kennels we have had to adopt the policy of NOT taking funds for dogs or merchandise that is not guaranteed money. I know this will cause people an inconvenience and I want to say we are sorry we had to adopt this policy but the time has come that it has to be put into effect. We trusted alot of people that we should not have trusted and now we all will have to pay for that mistake. It's not fair to all the honest people we have dealt with and will deal with again but we have to ask that if you are buying from us for the first time PLEASE bring cash or pay thru Paypal. This is made clear at the time we set up a sale and still have people show up to buy a dog with a personal check. If you are planning to take the dog home with you then PLEASE come with the correct method of payment. This happened just recently with ??????? driving alot of hours to buy a dog at the tree and had a personal check-----I'm sorry this happened but we spoke about this B4 you made the trip. If you had brought the correct means of payment then the dog would have left here with you.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and we ask for everyone's understanding this situation as I feel sure we are not the only one's dealing with this isssue.
Thanks again and HAPPY HUNTING !!!!!!!!!!!!

I have always felt it was extremely rude to pay for a dog or pup with a check. Dog deals should always be cash.

Personally, anybody who could not be trusted with a check would also not be trusted with a puppy of mine.

doing the right thing

It is not trouble for anyone to get a money order pay pal etc. You are protecting your interest. Dishonest people are the ones who will cry about it. You cut off their route of ripping you or anyone else off. I for one respect you for doing this. Help keeping people honest should not require an appology from you or anyone else. Keep up the good work.

We still accept puppy deposits by check, but they can't have the pup before the check clears. Won't take personal checks for older dogs taken same day or pups same day. Same problem with bad checks. It's sad you have to do that, but completely understandable. Honest people won't mind, and if someone is going to complain about having to get a money order or pay with cash, I don't want to do business with them anyway.

I think my post my have been misinterpreted. When I meant was that anyone who is dishonest enough to pass a bad check is certainly not someone to whom I would entrust the life of my puppy. While one definitely has the right to dictate the terms of their transactions, I would be more concerned that the person who was committing to my dog was an ethical one. The financial part of our relationship is secondary to that of the welfare of the dog.

Guess we have been lucky

so far, never had a bad check in all the years of raising dogs (18). I have always dealt with checks & have used them with no problem myself. Thats just me of course. I ask before I go for a dog, if they will accept a personal check & if not, I get cash, simple as that. I've had folks ask me if I'll accept a personal check & I tell them yes, but I hold the papers til it clears & get all info from them, just in case. Like I said, I've been VERY lucky so far & it's so sad that personal checks have become as worthless as the paper they as written on. It's just so sad. Most of our favorite resturents won't take personal checks anymore either, because of so many rubber ones & the hassle to get their money. Since all our money is sent direct deposit & we don't use an ATM card or credit cards, we have a hard time of it. Just sure ain't fair to the honest folks, now is it?
