coon scent for drags

I was wondering what everyone uses for scent on drags. Also what is the best method in using drags.

Nothing smells like a coon more than a coon. I always tried to use a coonskin instead of the artificial scents. Plus I always let the pups chew on the hide for a sec if they found it. I didn't want them to expect one of those little canvas scent holders to fall out of the tree during hunting season.....lol.

I also heard that those artificial scents don't always smell the same, they fluctuate between batches. Skin out a coon, soak it down with water, tease em with it, and lay the drag line.

Brad did you get the PM i sent you?

Freeze it

Brad,
Use the hide and then put it in a bag and freeze it.

Sure try it, now if I can just get a coon to lend me it's hide for the summer.

go out first thing in the morning, just as the sun comes up and you can usually find some pretty fresh road kill. If it is in good shape then skin it, wash it off....and wala instant drag.

Never have tried on a grown hound,But if I got a litter of pupsI use raccoon cover scent that you get at walmart during deer season. It sure makes pups start real easy.

I used to use Coon Feces in a old sock soaked in water.
