-- My first English... (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928442159)
My first English...
My name is Curtis J. Todd and I'm from South East Georgia. I wanted to start a thread here to sort of catalog the training and progress of my first English pup and the successes of my friends and their English hounds. I've been in the coon hunting business almost 10 years now and have mostly hunted Blueticks. I started with a female and made three generations of dogs that I enjoyed hunting and could compete with. Here's the story of how I ended up booking an English pup.
As much as I loved my bluedogs and competing with them, my hunting partners, Zac Kea and Jason Toole, are English men. His first hound was a male off of Timber Cutter that he bought as a pup from Rocky Tanner and he named him Champ(Im unsure of the dam's name). He says Champ started quickly and was a pleasure to hunt, I wish I could have seen him go. Unfortuneatly, Champ died on a cast in an accident and my partner was left without a hound.....
Champ
Fast forward a few years and He buys another pup from Rocky Tanner off of Timber Cutter and a GrNtCh female named Morgan's Red Scream. He named her Blazin' Timber Fat Bottom Girl aka "Fatty".
I met Zac and Jason around the time Fatty was a small pup and I got to watch and help train Fatty to what she is today. It was pleasureable to watch her and the male I was hunting at the time go tit for tat in the woods and we had a blast...
Zac had ventured out and decided to try a Bluetick before since we'd met, off of my Daisy female (with no luck) so I decided that it was time I did the same and went outside the box.
I contacted Chris Dillard just a couple days ago and found a real odd looking pup off of his GrNtCh Pride hound and PR female... After doing some research and deciding i like him, I booked the pup and we're going to give it a go!
I hope this pup fufills my needs as Im looking forward to finally be able to actually "work together" with my partner on the same breed.
Any advice for an English newcomer?.

Heat Cycle....
Fatty should be coming into heat any time now and if I can help Zac and Jason get her finished to Grand, He's planning on breeding her. Any pedigree wizards out there have a good idea of a proven reproducer that may cross well on Fatty?? She was Bred to Main Street Slam, owned by Steve Reeves, and had pretty decent results. Here is her pedigree:
---------------Grnitech 'pr' Beck痴 Pithole Creek Huck A Buck
----------CH Grnitech 'pr' Timber Cutter
---------------Grnitech Grch 'pr' Timber Valley Lucky
-----Nitech 'pr' Blazin Timber痴 Fatbottom Girl (3 wins to GrNtCh)
---------------Grnitech 叢r' Darktime Southern Red
----------Grnitech 'pr' Morgans Red Scream
---------------Nitech Ch 'pr' Toneys Cry

2015 Ga State Peach Classic
Here's Fatty in her first photo shoot! Fatty won this cast by getting split with the meat. Here was the hunt play by play
First drop she took a 3rd and a 1st and was split treed about 15 yards from the other three dogs. She had the meat while the others were on a huge circle tree.
Drop number two we cast her she took a 1st and a 2nd on a den with the whole cast. Circle em up.
Drop number three we cast she took another 1st and and a cautious 2nd... As I listened to her treed, It just sounded funny but she was treed. The other dog that was in the same general area was doing the same thing.. He pulled the trigger and I waited the 5 to take 2nd tree. we got there and they were treed on a fallen down log that crossed the creek that was about 8 feet below them. My first thought was "GREAT there goes our plus points!" but after observation, we found the coon in the log! It was wild! that ended the hunt and we won with 350+
When we got back to the club house and all the cards were turned in, we found out there was a 5 way tie for 5th place... All of us had +350 lol. After the circle points and all were figured in, we ended up with 9th overall.
It was a fun hunt. I wish we were attending this year.

Fatty
Fattys momma was one of the most fun dogs to hunt That I ever raised and trained. She was for real at a very young age. She also threw some good pups. Our Scream 2 and Remax that Tony Smith had was out of her. Also the Jazz female Rocky has and many more. Scream was funny as a pup the only dog she would let tree with her was her momma. She eased up with a little help and in a couple months she wasn't so bad. She had an incredible locate and was a treeeee dog. Fatty is a nice looking female good luck moving forward with her.

I had a 1/2 sister to timber cutter that I bred to huck and a pup out of that litter won the baby stakes. They later bred that pup to seths Charlie 7 dog and one of those pups won the super stakes. It would be a real similar cross with your dog on crow just better in my opinion. Seth and his brother are great people with an outstanding breeding program. You won't find better people to deal with. Good luck and thanks Bradley for the kind words

Had a good hunt tonight with Fatty. She went 1 for 2 with a den. There didnt seem to be many good tracks tonight but she pushed through them and popped this one up.
Looks like She'll be hunted in the Peach Classic again and ill be handling her at the state hunt. We also discussed me taking her to English days too. I believe we have it all worked out! Maybe her heat cycle will hold off so I can Grand this heffer!

2014 Autumn Oaks
We had a great time at 2014 Autumn Oaks. I had an entry paid up to hunt there and didn't think I was going to be able to make it. Needless to say, I was pretty bummed. Along that same time frame, Fatty was off her pups and they were ready to be taken to their new homes. A few folks had asked if they could be delivered up there so Zac got the wild hair to split the gas with me and ride up.
We got there early Thursday morning and let the dogs rest that day (and so did we) so that we could hunt in the mini slam that night. I was hunting my GrNtCh Whip dog and Zac was going to hunt Fatty, even though she had just come off pups...
Low and behold we drove 14 hours up there and end up on the same cast!! What are the odds?! We ended up with a dead cast, a funny story and a good time... That's what its all about.
