Repeat cross Banjo3 X Hiedi

Looks like there may be a chance to compare the 1st litters 5 titled dogs to the 2nd cross.

.

Click on the pic above to see a couple off the 2nd cross

Also i want to add that this cross is from Frozen Semen. This litter could very well be the current day "test" on the repeat cross discussion. And the effects of frozen semen. Thanks for reading

question

Can Richard tell me who is in this video? These repeat crosses are a hot topic. I'm very suprised there haven't been any comments. I know these pups are a ways out from being Titled in a hunt, just tought I'd add that my pup from this cross is a loud intense tree dog. I'm keeping up with 6 pups from the 2nd cross. Looking good so far

I'm excited about mine, she is loud and acts as good as anything I've ever raised. She likes to mess with grinners but that's not an issue at this point with her age being 7mths. I like seeing a loud hard tree dog @ 7mths old. I think Heidi will see some huge #'s on the reproducers list in the near future!

Todd, That feller was pretty excited the 1st time he let them find a coon. I can see why, they look good!

Mine is smart and confident. Very nice 7 month old; he has cat feet and a huge mouth. We had a rough winter and no conditions to train a pup. I don't start dogs this early, anyway, but had him out for the exercise. Didn't see him until the other dog checked in. That's a good sign...although, too soon to tell.

I don't start mine until they get upwards of 1 year, I had my pup loose and she nailed a possum all alone. I called Rex and let him hear her

yep

I think all mine would tree at 6 to 7 mths old but I don't like the "puppy" in them at that age, I've found thru my experiences that they do better older. I figure if one is doing it all at 1.5 yrs old that it can wait till its 3 to prove it. I'd rather it be mature and somewhat seasoned b4 it gets introduced to the night hunts, I see folks hunting 1yr olds that aren't even treeing yet. I just can't do it myself.

PRESTON YOU ARE 100% RIGHT IN MY BOOKS.AT 1.5 YR. OLD THEY NOT BEEN DOWN ENOUGH TRACKS TO BE A COONDOG READY FOR THE NIGHT HUNTS.THEY MUST BE A PUPPY BEFORE THEY CAN EVER BE A COONDOG !

IM OLD SCHOOL I WAIT TILL THERE 3 AND PUT THEM IN THE HUNTS OR MAYBE A MONTH OR 2 SHY OF 3.

THERES MORE YOUNG DOGS MESSED UP IN THESE NT.HUNTS THAN WE WILL EVER KNOW, I KNOW GUYS THAT GET THEM EAT UP AND AFTER THIS HAPPENS THERE 1.5 YR. OLD DOG DONT WANT TO TREE WITH ANYTHING ELSE THEY ARE HUNTED WITH.

BUT I DONT OWN THEM SO IF THEY WANT TO HUNT THEM HAMMER DOWN DONT SAY I NEVER TOLD WHAT CAN HAPPEN.

JUST THINK IF U WAIT TILL HE OR SHE IS 3 WHAT AND HOW MUCH MORE YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO WIN BECAUSE HE OR SHE HAS HAD 2-3 KILL SEASONS PUT ON THEM THEY BEEN TO SCHOOL A LITTLE MORE @ 3.

I agree completely, we both know they can win younger but I see no point in putting one at risk.

YOUR RIGHT PRESTON GOOD ONES ARE HARD TO FIND, IF U GET ONE NO REASON TO MESS THEM UP AT A EARLY AGE.

Dave

I read all over this forum about repeat crosses being a waste of time or that they are made just to sell, I don't think its accurate. I'd say if it was truly a good cross producing a high # of coondogs the 1st time that it will do it again. Now if a cross only produced 1 or 2 coondogs it might not work as good the next time. We all have the chance to see on this cross. Time will tell how it is for this one. But I figure this cross stands a good chance to be just as good as the 1st cross or maybe better if you go by titles. Why?.., because there is a "team" behind this litter to get them ready and then carry them and finish them. That right there is 1 reason the Titles on the other crosses that have been looked at don't seem to be as good as the 1st time. The 2nd crosses most likely didn't have the same crew behind them pushing them to Title out. A good Team can take good dogs and finish them. The dogs don't know what cross they are from and treedogs are born to tree. These are bred to tree. we will all see !

Posted by Preston Owens on 03-14-2013 09:48 PM:

derek

Hold on lol this pup was running loose and "found" a coon that had been set up for him. I hear he flipped out over it which is no suprise to me. These pups from what I hear are special. Time will tell. I could be wrong about them but I don't think so, time will tell. The one up that way surely will make it. He has one of the very best upbringing.

just some thoughts

I don't want anyone to take my post wrong, I believe in these "Banjo" dogs, its not just Banjo but that type of dog. These look promising. I hope they all make good dogs, but I will be the 1st to say on here that its very early to draw an opinion on this 2nd cross. Those that know me know I get "fired" up over these dogs! I'm by no means trying to take away from anyones opinions or make out like these are the only thing out there. What fires me up is the volume, willingness to find game and to be looking up and treeing this early on is really exciting to me. I hope that this post I'm making sets it all clear for everybody. I'm excited but the story will unfold on this cross with miles and tired feet. I hope they have it!

Grinners

10 Years ago Herb Vaughn shared some important information with me. He knows how to stop the dogs from treeing Grinners. I tried it ever since and it works great. Call him and get the fix. You won't believe it will work, but it does. Prevously I tried many other methods and had no lasting success. First step you'll need to wear a seed corn cap (gimme cap or ball cap) coonhunting. Herb can supply the rest of it.
