OS WHO --- 0 and 9 lifetime agaist the SEC in Bowls

Nines times OSU has faced an SEC team in a Bowl Game. And nine times OSU has came away with the same results ---- LOST.

Are they jinxed against the SEC or is it the fact that the SEC is that good? We all know the real answer to that question.

2 straight years OSU has faced an SEC team for the National Championship and 2 straight years they have found out that they just can't beat an SEC team in a Bowl game. They have never beat an SEC team in a bowl game.

And the last 2 National Championship games have not been close in points against the SEC.

SEC sent 9 teams to Bowl games and ended with a 7-2 Bowl record.

And to think I been reading on here where folks say that SEC ain't nothing and OSU will prevail.

hey buckshot you know the big 10 is more of a powerhouse than the sec heck michigan beat florida..lol... but i think 7-2 in the bowls proves who has the best conference.. sec back to back natl titles in football and defending basketball champ

When 2 of those loses were to us Gamecocks, you cant be too good. Heck we can't even beat the Tigers often.

WHAT IS A BUCKEYE? It looks like a maryjane leaf on the helmet.

OSU-LSU

Looks like the south rose again. Seriously, OSU needs an offensive play caller. Tresssel has lost 2 champ. games because of his play calling, and he should play tougher opponents during the regular season. Think of the experience that would be gained playing SEC teams on a regular basis. I think GA and USC would have been a better game. GO NOLES!!!!!!!!!!

LSU

Sweet home Alabama. The South has risen again. Congratulations on your wins.

....congrats to the LSU Tigers, the SEC, and their fans............the best team won..........'nuff said...........folks (like me, who were pullin for OSU), need to just man up and admit it...........

i knew ohio state would choke again

Posted by Ray&Luie on 01-08-2008 02:03 PM:

Stupid penalties

If Ohio St had of played with some composure they might have had a better game but the personal fouls and other penaltys just killed them , a blatent Face mask got them 15 yards , it should have never happend , they had the tallent and it should have been closer , but they lost there composure early and blew it again ! Champions find a way to win ! Just ask Tom Brady and the pats !

Go Gators !

How about having LSU coming up and playing the title game in cincinnati ohio ,how about 3 personal foul calls that kept drives alive called by officials with strong southern accents, how about when an lsu player pulls an osu player out of a pile by the ankles and no flag is thrown.I know ohio state did not belong in the bcs championsip game and i think most buckeye fans knew it after all we were not even pedicted to be in the top ten so 4th is not bad.I also saw a slow big ten back run away from an all world SEC db for a 66 yrd td.I also saw osu score 24 points on an all world defense and OSU had 2 int's and 1 fmbl and 89yds of penalties.LSU should feel lucky they played an avg buckeyes team instead of west virgina(#1) or usc. I don't know how a 2 loss team can feel like national champs?

wells 146 yds 7.3 avg on national chmps
total yds lsu 326 osu 353
avg yds per play lsu 4.3 osu 6.3
these are numbers that national champs gave up to a cup cake like osu.
LSU best team in the nation????

That'll soon change. Looks like they're keeping Tommy around for a while. If Spurrier can't do anything with our boys, I'm not sure they can be helped, lol. They'll come around, though.

farve4, look at it like the world hunt. the winner isn't neccessarily the best coondog in the world, but it is the one with the most points at the end of the game. remember stats don't win ball games.

Let's see OS WHO is 0-9 Lifetime against the SEC in Bowls

I bet your one of those OS WHO fans for the last 9 times OS WHO has lost to an SEC team in a bowl game as made excuses to why OS WHO lost each time.

Why not face the fact that OS WHO can't compete against the SEC schools and quit making excuses.

Yet, even though before last night they have never beaten a team in the SEC in a Bowl, I knew some OS WHO fan would come on here this morning making excuses.

I guess that they got cheated the last 8 times they played the SEC in a Bowl game, HUH?

Don't forget that yards at the end of the game is not what is holding the National Championship Trophy up, it's the winnning team holding that trophy up who put up more points in the game.

Talk about scoring points on a defense?

What #1 defense in the country gave up all those points to LSU last night?

Hint, it's a team out of OHio who has never beaten an SEC school in a Bowl game in 9 tries.

A little history of OS Who against the SEC in Bowls dating back 30 years.........(30 years and not 1 win)

2008 38-24 ( Lost to LSU) BCS Nation Cahmpionship
2007 41-14 ( Lost to Florida) BCS Nation Cahmpionship
2002 31-28 (Lost to South Carolina) Outback Bowl
2001 24-7 (Lost to South Carolina) Outback Bowl
1996 20-14 (Lost to Tennessee) Citrus Bowl
1995 24-17 (Lost to Alabama) Citrus Bowl
1993 21-14 (Lost to Georgia) Citrus Bowl
1990 31-14 ((Lost to Auburn) Hall of Fame Bowl
1978 35-6 (Lost to Alabama) Sugar Bowl

But I am sure there is 30 Years of excuses why OS WHO has lost each time, just like you tried to make today.

Posted by favre4 on 01-08-2008 03:32 PM:

In the world hunt they have elimination rounds so the buckeyes probably would not have been there. The stats do show that a cup cake big ten team can run on a sec team.I think lsu fans should be proud but downing the bucks and blowing about a 2 loss team is a little over board.

I also knew some lsu fan would have to come on here and down the big ten to make him self feel better.I did not see them on here bragging after the loss to ky or ark.Is that how a champion acts putting down his opponent, especially one that they already knew were inferior.Go ahead a blow but in the back of your head you still know they had 2 losses

Posted by Buckshot on 01-08-2008 03:37 PM:

I'm not an LSU fan..........My blood runs Orange -- Go Vols.

But I am an SEC fan and will root for my conference in Bowl games.

I just think it's funny that OS WHO who has never beaten and SEC team in a Bowl game, that excuses that the game was crooked is being posted.

0-9 over 30 years just proves OS WHO can't compete against the SEC.

Doesn' matter if they can run the ball against the SEC, it matters who scores more points.

And the SEC has scored more points in each of those 9 games.

Things that bother me about bowl games

This isn't directed at any team or conference, but there are some things that really bother me.

1. All teams should have the same length layoff.
2. No teams should have a home state advantage.
3. What the heck is this crap about BCS championship? Are they not NCAA schools? Or do the broadcasters just want part of the fame since they can't play anymore?
4. Where is the sportsmanship?
5. What the heck is this crap about players giving another player an elbow to the side of a helment when they are down? I saw this 5 times in different bowl games, and a penalty was never called.

Personally, I don't care who the college is or what conference they are in, I believe college sports should clean itself up and practice some of the principles that the institutions that they represent have stood for.

Dang Buckshot....you live in 'Bama and are a Vol fan? I'm surprised they haven't revoked your citizenship LOL.

farve4, y'all can dog out LSU all you want to for the "2 loss" thing, but just look at the AP top 25 do you see anybody else more deserving? Hawaii and Kansas have only one loss, but does any sane football fan feel as though they are on the same level as LSU, OSU, USC, or UGa?

One of these years we will have a playoff system or at least a "plus one" system to help decide this crap.

PS-- Go to CNN/SI and look at the articles on the playoff/plus one possibilities. Look at the conferences that are NOT in favor of it (PAC-10 & Big 10)....why? Makes you go hmmmmmm...

These 2 are easy.

1. Teams create their own schedule........OS WHO created their schedule and must deal with what they created. Teams must deal with scheduling a weak schedule, off dates, and etc.. They only have themselves to blame.

2. The National Championship Game and Bowls with their locations are scheduled in advance of the football season.

The National Championship Game moves every year.

Home field advantage is very rare in the National Championship Game as the team that advances to the National Championship Game most times doesn't have home field advantage.

Had LSU not advanced to the National Championship Game the other's that could have gotten in would not have had home field advantage.

LSU just got lucky that the National Championship Game was already scheduled in their neck of the woods.

It is the way the cards fall on this season.

Last year's National Championship Game was in Glendale, Arizona.

Next years National Championship Game is in Miami, Fl --------- If Florida, Florida State, or Miami make it to the National Championship game, then they will have home field advantage.

Are any of those teams guaranteed to make it? No.

The year after the National Championship Game is in Pasadena, California ---------- All those California teams have a shot of home field advantage but only 2 teams are getting to the big game and that is not guranteed those California teams will make it.

Does not make me go hmmm. The big ten feels the season is long enough already.I am in no way downing lsu,but i do feel there is a better team in the nation. And i don't understand how you can feel good about winning a national championship from a team that you have said all along was no good.I did not see russ bellar fans on here talking trash about the dogs he beat in the world hunt.

Football and coonhunting are two different things. Man the things people try to compare things to.

Football with trash talking and pride and rubbing it in has been around longer than we have been alive.

Maybe things in the south are different than up north, but in the south, we take out football serious.

Ask Alabama fans the Monday at work after losing to Auburn if it isn't felt?

Or the Monday after the 3rd October in Saturday.......I know real well as my team was on the losing end that weekend and heard all about it that next week with trash talk and rubbing it in.

My dad is an Alabama fan..........he despises the VOLS...........Trash talk goes on all season over football.

Technically, LSU was undefeated in regulation.

Posted by Josh Howard on 01-08-2008 04:28 PM:

I don't see anybody downing OSU. I made several posts on the other thread a few weeks ago about OSU and the Big 10. There was NO clear cut #1 this year. Yeah, LSU won the National Championship last night and therefore deserve the #1. OSU deserved to be in the National Championship. So did LSU. WVU had their shot but lost to a very weak Pitt team this year and late in the year...that was a bad break for them, but it happened and knocked them out of contention. Considering the fact that LSU did lose 2 games in OT and played in the toughest conference in the NCAA this year, they deserved their shot at the Championship.
