Pros & Cons

Looking to purchase a thermal imaging at A O. What are you using? Any information will be appreciated. I have been reading all I can on them. And understand there is a self training period to lean how to use them. How durable are they? Will they work in cold/freezing temperatures?

Thanks For Any Help

Had the AGM 125 for just about one year. I like it but you must realize they are not magic. Coon can be hard to find with them at times. Used mine all winter and really liked it in the cold weather. I'm probably the only guy that has trouble finding coon when the leaves are off but it really helped. Hot humid makes it a little harder to tell when you've found the coon some times. I guess this may tell you more than anything else, I don't go hunting without it. Now they have the AGM 19 which is cheaper and at least just as good from what I can find out. If I was buying one today the 19 is what I would get.

RC-Abby look up Sandy at K-lights or Kevin Rainwater with Boss Lights. Both should have them there. Really simple to use. I love where technology has brought us. But even though I love it. If I get to the woods and am hunting and the technology is not user friendly with some simple training it makes it not worth having. I use the newer model AGM Taipan 15 and it works great. It has an app that attaches to your phone and you can actually run it from your phone or iPad. You can record video or take pictures right from your phone also. Of course you can do all that from the unit itself but then you have to transfer pictures later and straight to the phone makes it easier.

Ive always bought the newest technology and if i ever go hunting with someone that has one ill probably order one the next day.Did that when they first came out with tracking collars back in the 80s.ha.Im on the fence about one of these. In a leafy tree youll want to see its eyes before you can say its a coon unless you can see its body.In a tree with no leaves you should be able to see the coon if hes there unless its a den.Part of the fun is finding the coon.A little skill to it.Ill probably get one tho.Theres a good video on you tube ( nitelife kennel) showing the 3 that k lite sells and the differences in them.He recommends the AGM 15 for a coonhunter. The AGM 19 for searching longer distances.

My error it is the 15 not the 19. Had them confused.

I’m sure—

This would be used only when training or when pleasure hunting here in this State. They are illegal to use in Minnesota while carry a firearm during season.

Old Timer as the availability and desire to own one increases. I feel many States that don't have regulations in place will add them. They are an incredible tool. But because of what they can do. Many will be used to do the wrong things with.
