Any idea how early you have to get there to get a spot? Nor can you reserve them?

You can't reserve them. To get a really good one, you need to pull your camper down on Sun and leave it. Then you go back on Thursday or Fri and it is waiting for you. If you get there Thursday afternoon you shoul be able to get a spot but probably won't have any shade. There are also spots across the street from the entrance now.

if you go get a spot on sunday and leave your camper it's $30 a day til Thursday we have gone out for the last 5 yrs or so so we can get the same spot each year I think the grounds open around noon
