Competition Hunts

Are awesome. Just wanted to say something positive. Nothing like riding with your dad, mother, or best freind to a hunt. Teasing one another about who's going win than riding back home win or loose the trips are usually priceless. Yeah I know we all have been in some that were not but let's share memories of the ones to help our sport grow. One that will always stick out for me as one of my favorites was PROBALLY my first. I was hunting a bluetick named Sampson and he was a good one. Well he had treed one coon and another guys dog had backed him. We ended up tied and little did I know I had won but I kept insisting to the guy that he won because he had more plus tree points. But I forgot that he had more minus. But you know what I loved that night and I was hooked. I didn't get credit for the win but it didn't bother me cause some grown man took advantage because man I was on cloud 9 to just be there I think I was 14 or 15. Now dad didn't do as well and we never went to another hunt Til I was 23, just because my dad got mad he never bother a Asking me. I guess what I'm trying to say let's be positive to our youth and fellow coonhunters. I just want to say even if I get took and I still do the good times totally over ride the bad. So what was your favorite hunt win or loose

Good hunts

Well I started comp hunting at age 16 and I'm now 32 my most favorite moment was the 2003 world hunt I qualified a dog and made it all the way to Lagrange Indiana in the top 100 thought that was the greatest thing ever at age 19 but the best hunts I've had has being in the last month I have drawed three cast and drawed the most honest and respectable people I ever have drawed not a argument not a question and was really honest cast it was like we were pleasure hunting and we all had so much fun you walk away win or lose and still so happy because you had a great time and a great hunt

Any nite thats not arguin and everyone and every dog makes it out ok is a great hunt. Even people i dont like. Luckily the majority of the cast iv been on is like that. Some people wanna complain at club house and poke fun. But thats fine. Its the equivalent of trash talkin bout football teams. A real coon hunter in my eyes get respect when win or lose in the woods ur there to have a good time. My most memorable was the first cast i ever went out on. Didnt have a dog in the hunt. Didnt know anyone at club or cast. I pleasure hunted and seen one day a bunch of dog boxes goin up the rd past my house. I followed em. Ended up at a club house i didnt know was at the end of my rd! I never even knew anyone that even comp hunted. All my friends were pleasure hunters. I asked round and some one offered me to spectate. That cast went great. Every dog had over 500+ and not a single person found theyre own coon first. No minus no off game. I was amazed. That kinda scorin hasent happened since round here.

Due to health reasons I have not been able to be in one since the super slam in April. Knowing I am not getting a dog ready to compete takes all of the fun out of coon hunting for me. Have only been going a couple of short drops about once a week, and even than I dont really want to. People can hate on competition hunts all they want, but if it were not for them where would our sport be.

Terrible hunt

Drove 6 hrs to the Ohio state hunt in Hillard Ohio. I don't think we seen a coon all night but are dogs sure didn't have a problem treeing. I think within the first ten minutes one dog minused out another minused out later and I was sure on my way to minus out but hung in there with -375! Old blue sure looked awesome that night....although we never seen a coon all night were sure had a ball. Never been so sore from a hunt and that was from laughing so hard. We had a ball made fun of our dogs and and how dumb they looked. Of course there's always that one guy that had to be all peed of cuz his dog looked so bad but me and the other two guys sure made it a good time! While its the worst hunt I've ever had it was also the best hunt and one heck of a time! Will be one of the greatest memories thus far.

I want to hunt with you guys. Hunted most of my life but have only been in 2 comp hunts. Embarassed me the way people act including the guy handling my dog. It would be fun to hunt with honest people.

several yrs ago (early 2000's or so) was at a major hunt w/a nitech and drew a guy who paid a fella to guide us. well on the first drop two dogs treed and it was a possum. before we saw the possum the one fella claimed the other dog was off the tree and should be minused. well i proceeded to tell him the dog was there and no minus points were given.well it then was discovered it was a possum so both were scratched. the guy who's dog was not minused on the tree was the one paying the guide. he continued to stay w/the cast while the guy wanting to minus went home mad. left me and another dog w/me winning the cast. i am sure the guy in this story will remember that hunt if he is reading this cause we have been friends to this day..but don't seem to keep in touch that much. friendships made in this game can be for a long time irregardless of the distances. this hunt was not so important in the gammet of everything but really sticks out!
