Question about a place in North Carolina ????

Anyone out there ever heard or know of I guess you would call it a "park" that is supposed to be somewhere in North Carolina with something like 100 acres or so of uncut natural timber???? I guess you can tour through or hike in it and see the way {or as close to it} that the eastern forest would have looked like when the first explorers saw it. I have had a few people tell me about it, but I can't seem to locate it or find out if it even exists.
One person said he thought it was somewhere in the Cherokee National Forest, so I thought it might be in the western part of the state over in the mountains, but I don't know. I understood this tract was private land but open to the public for a fee.
For all I know it could have never existed or not even be in the state of North Carolina. Thanks in advance for any info....

I am starting to think maybe the place either doesn't exist or maybe since it was supposedly private property the owners decided for whatever reason to close it to the general public???
The story was that the tract of land was like written in a previous owners will to never be developed and remain a untouched or unaltered parcel almost like a "tree sanctuary" if there is such thing. Maybe I have the wrong state, I heard about it in the late 90's and always thought it would be really something to go and see. I cant even remember exactly how or from who I heard about it, but I remember some of the details...in North Carolina, written in the will to stay that way...open to the public, privately owned...big huge pine trees like 150 feet tall...open forest floor you can easily walk thru, about 100 acres or so, etc.......

That Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest has to it...thanks for the info!!!!! It is in the general area I was told and it has a trail and the size trees that were quoted. Too many coincidences to just be a coincidence.
