Funny story about an old Dog

Man has it been cold here! Lots of snow and ice...I mean FREEZIN COLD!!! Well, I brought ole Steve-O in the house, cause he is getting old. Pattie gave him a bath and got him all cleaned up, blowed dried and brushed. It is the best he has smelled in years. Any how, he'd been in the house, and remarkabley he is house broke, imagine that, and Pattie always has ice cream everynight, you'd think she would weigh 300 pounds, but she don't, anyway, she always has ice cream, and give her little house dog "Sugar" a spoonful too. Well, she let old Steve-O lick her bowl and I mean to tell you, that old hound dog likes ice cream! I never knew anyone or anything that could learn the word "ice cream" any faster that him. Everynight Pattie would say I think it is ice cream time and old Steve-O would jump up and run to the kitchen and dance on his hind feet and that tale would just wag just as fast as it could wag. That is the fastest I have seen him move in years! You could see him just grinning from ear to ear after he enjoyed a couple of scoops! Today it warmed up, so I tried to take him back to the pen...let me tell you, he was having none of that....He is a "house dog" now...Well, needless to say he got to come back to the house, got him another "doggie treat" and went and got in his crate. I like to never got him to go out to pee after that, cause he new it was warm enough for him to go back to the pen...well, we had to go pick up another female so we let him stay in the house while we were gone, and when we got home, he went outside to pee and realiazed there was someone in his pen, well he went to check it out and BAM! I finally got him into the pen! He is still pouting and staring at the house. Pattie wants me to go get him and bring him back in for "ice cream" but I ain't...he is a coon dog not a "house dog". Anyhow, I thought it was funny and thought I would share....I always say my wife spoils my dogs...now you know it is really true!

Rocky

I still remember going over to Harry O's and seeing ol' Rocky in the house. Even got woke up by Music jumping on me and my buddy after our trip up and licking us to death. Didn't bother me a bit or Music. She still went and did her thing along with my Ann female that was sharing the house with em when I got there. Good times with good friends.

House dog coondog.

Don't worry Kenny, living in the house won't cause him to quit being a coondog. GRNTCH Yellow River Music lived in Harry's house most her life and won plenty of hunts, even won Autumn Oaks National Grand Nite (Overall) after living in the house for a few years.
Flow wants to live in the house too and she is a perfect house dog when in here. But she is going to live in the barn too, like all our animals. It's just easier. :-).

Hounds are smart. I don't have central heating so I like my hounds in the bed with me. But if you bring him back in the house and he loves ice cream, he's bound to figure out how to open the freezer door and help himself. Keep that kitchen door closed!
And while a lot of them learn how to open refrigerator doors, I've never hear of one that learned to close it after they helped themself to whatever they wanted.

see this video of beagle helping himself to chicken nuggets hidden inside the microwave:
http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/201..._n_4573808.html

I've taken more than one new or visiting hound into the house, and as long as they are adults and there's another dog to teach them, they don't need to be housebroken., they figure it out for themselves almost immediately.
