Eastern Kentucky Bear Hunting

I'm trying to get a spot lined up for the Bear season here in Kentucky. Bell county would be my first choice, but any of the 16 counties that have a bear season would be of interest to me. Hopefully someone out there knows someone that can hook me up with a good spot.

Kentucky Bear season is only open in 4 county's, Bell, Pike, Letcher and Harlan. The Ky Elk range is 16 county's.
There are about 16 WMA's or Public hunting areas in those 4 county's, all listed in the Ky Hunting and Trapping Guide available anywhere you buy license or on Line at fw.ky.gov.

Just last week the KDFWR opened up bear hunting to 16 counties.

I WENT TO PIKE CO. BACK IN THE SUMMER THOSE FOLKS SAID THERE WERE A LOT OF BEARS THERE.BUT BE READY TO HIT THE HILLS IT'S STRAIGHT UP NO MATTER WHICH U LOOK........

I live in Pike County. In these big mountains there is so much territory to roam. Behind my house is Jefferson National Forest and at the top is the Virginia line. Numerous people within this are have seen bear lately. I had 2 pics of one on my game camera a month or so ago. And seemed to be the same one on my brother in laws a week before. Actually had one get onto my carport and get in my trash dragging a bag 50
Yrds and into a thicket behind my home. So maybe you should try hunting the big mnt on Elkhorn Crk.

I hope they get Powell County opened soon. There are several bears here and have been for a longtime the way I understand.
