help bring treeing out in a pup

I have a 8 month old male that will run tracks and usually be first strike and run with a nitechampion male that will finish the track n have the coon but the pup will just be within 40 yards of the tree going back and forth but wont tree unless it scalding hot out of a creek. Is there anything I can do to help him look up
