Coon Management?
Does anyone manage there land for coon? You hear about deer management but what about coon. If you do give me some ideas.

Yes I do. The best way is to have your spots and your spots only. Only take "Trustworthy" Buddies with you, that know better than to come in behind you. Dont knock out every single Coon either. If you just let them run and Treed em you will have Coons to run the next night and they wont have to go to the next County to find one. Thats where most folks mess up in my opinion. Most of the time my Dogs reward is some Humun Affection not pissed off ball of Fur. Not saying I dont give one to my Hounds ever so often, Id just rather do that at my "out of Town" Spots that I might get to hunt once a month, rather than my local spots.

I CATCH ALOT OF "TOWN COONS " AND STOCK EM IN AREAS WHERE I HUNT, NOT SURE IF THATS MANAGMENT OR STOCKING LOL
I don't shoot on my land and I also release coons. It just seems they move on to greener pastures. I want to turn my land into the greenest pasture. I have all the basics water, big timber, dens, fruit trees, and some clear cut. I do not have feeders and don't really want them but if that is what it takes I guess that is what I have to do. Here like everywhere else hunting land is hard to come by I am just wanting a place to hunt during deer season. Once deer season opens all the land owners that love you to hunt on them turn to the biggest butts you have ever seen. Anymore suggestions?

OUR CLUB IS ROUGHLY 17000 ACRES AND WE HAVE 8 OF US THAT COON HUNT (ALL OF WHICH COMPITION HUNT) AND WE HAVE AN AREEMENT THAT NO COONS GET SHOT UNLEES OVER A PUP FOR HIS FIRST COON BY HISELF. IF ANY NEW MWMBERS JOIN WE MAKE THEM AWARE OF THIS AND ANY VILATION OF IT GETS HANDLED BY THE CLUB PRESIDENT ( BEING THAT HE WAS AN OLD SCHOOL COMP. HUNTER) AND IT IS EITHER HANDLED OR THAT MEMBER LOOKS FOR A NEW CLUB

Build Dens , Dens and More Dens !!
The Quickest Dens to make are 30gal Plastic Drums .. Just Use a Climbing Tree Stand to Lag them to the Trees
Basicly you Use a 4" dia Hole saw drill a hole in the top 2/3rds and when you bolt them to the tree place the hole cutout very close to touching the tree .. place 2" to 3" of Pine Shavings in them .. Done !!!!
They need Shelter 1st and foremost .. Water is next then Food source ..
To get the coons checking out the Den trees use a squart Bottle of Coon secent and spray the Base of the Trees lightly with the scent ..
