Just A Question

EVERYTIME I TRAVEL WITH A DOG OFF SOMEWHERE THEY NEVER ACT RIGHT. WHAT DOES EVERYONE DO TO HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM. I'VE GOT DOGS FROM UP NORTH AND THE FIRST LITTLE WHILE THEY ACT CRAZY BUT THEN THEY GET SETTLED IN AND ARE REALLY NICE BUT AS SOON AS YOU TRAVEL OFF SOMEWHERE THERE YOU ARE AGAIN. WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN TRAVELING WITH A DOG THAT YOU KNOW IS REALLY NICE TO HELP WITH THIS? THANKS FOR ANY TIPS

I LET THEM RIDE UP FRONT ON LONG TRIPS.

FEED YOUR DOG THEN LEAVE YOUR DOG IN THE BOX AT NIGHT SOME WHEN YOU GET BACK FROM HUNTIN. I DO THIS QUIT A BIT.
IN REAL COLD WETHER I ALWAYS DOUBLE UP MY DOGS AT NIGHT IN THE DOGBOX & PUT THEM BACK IN THE KENNEL NEXT MORNING.

If I had the money I would go to the new country a few nites early and hunt my dog up in them.

I think the more they travel the less it has an effect on them. Most of the dogs that I have owned have ridden thousands of miles a year and got to the point where they preffered the dog box over anything. In your case I would try to get there a couple days early and letting the dog relax and regain its sences.

I USED TO LEAVE MINE IN THE DOG BOX ALSO WHEN IT WAS REALLY COLD AND THEY WAS WET WHEN WE GOT BACK FROM HUNTIN BUT I STOPPED THAT FOR SOME REASON. YA'LL THINK ITS FROM THE RIDE IS THE REASON BEHIND IT OR THAT ITS NEW COUNTRY WITH NEW SMELLS AND ALL. THE DOG I'VE GOT HAS BEEN OWNED AND HUNTED IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT STATES. I'VE GOT ONE FROM UP NORTH AND BROUGHT THEM DOWN AND IT TAKES A COUPLE OF WEEKS FOR THEM TO START ACTING RIGHT USUALLY IF THEIR FROM UP NORTH THEY'LL MAKE ALOT OF SLICK TREES AND U KEEP HUNTIN THEM AND THEY'LL GO ON AND TREE THE COON. THEN AGAIN I'VE HAULED THEM FROM SOUTH TO NORTH AND SEEN THEM ACT LIKE THEY'VE NEVER BEEN IN THE WOODS. DOES HAULIN THEM UP FRONT OF THE TRUCK HELP WITH THIS I'LL TRY IT IF IT DOES BUT I REALLY DON'T LIKE A STINKIN DOG RIDING ON A LONG TRIP IN THE WINTER TIME.

about 2 weeks to a mths sounds about right differnt hunting
dogs from the north go around the woods with the food source
being corn.the south more creeks are hunted a dog has to be
around the food source.
