Minnesota Trail Hound Ass.

The Minnesota Trail Hound Ass. is looking for members, they are kind of regrouping and trying to become a better organised organisation. We are in the process of trying to get a training season on bobcat, squirrel, rabbit and birds and any other legal game animal that may be pursued with dogs.

Had a meeting last night along with a youths bench show, all went well with a good turn out. Sounds like we may have the Minnesota Bird Federation joining in with us to help get a training season, after we finally proved to them they did NOT have the rite to train their bird dogs afield out of season on DNR administered lands, this whole time they thought they were completely legally and it took us several hours to finally get them to except the fact after showing them on paper. Also discussed is getting the law changed so dogs may NOT be shot by anyone at any time other than by law enforcement officers. In a state were it's illegal to kill your own dog I can't see how it could be acceptable to kill another persons dog. Still needing members so if ya haven't joined up please do so if you can, we are willing to fight to protect you and your hounds but we can't do it alone.

I think a law of such is way past due! I had a dog shot and killed Nov 1, 2009 while out hunting coon. Although I won a small claims case ... law enforcemnt, DNR, and county attorney were all less than helpful .... like they didnt care. No criminal charges of any kind were filed.
Existing laws have too many "loopholes" ... I would greatly support a law that would make shooting a dog at any time "Unlawful"! .........
Glad there is a movement to get the laws changed! ......I for one am ecstatic that an association is actually trying to do something about protecting our dogs! .......... I will be sending in my membership this week! ........ Thank you! .... Steve

I plan to renew my membership in January. I was a member once in the past. Sounds like MTHA is working hard for houndsmen and all of us should support them.
