try to hunt at least once a week sometimes 2 or 3 times in the good months of sept an oct. we slow down in the winter up here the snow gets to deep and then hounds can cover more ground than our feet can. we hunt Bear an Coon

I would say..............

40 to 60 times a year or close to once a week or more. The snow and cold is not very fun when it gets deep and is hard to get places with a vehicle. It does slow us down and I don't feel like going when it gets too cold. LOL! That's how the last 2 winters have been, but I still take the dogs out until they say it is time. We don't have bears, but all the others, we do. I don't like my hounds getting on coyotes or fox but we have wounded them before and encouraged them to find them. Probably a mistake. The Mt. lion population in ND has a quota of 8, so it's not like we have a ton of them. Bobcat and coon are fairly abundant and the dogs are encouraged to find them.
Later, DJK

I coon hunt 300 nights a year give or take a few and I also hunt every day of the Tennessee bear season and some of north Carolinas season also. Most of my dogs are hunted on both. I coon hunt some of the dogs just to keep them n shape for bear season.
