"PR" titles

who, what, or how does a dog get a 'PR' title?

Thank you for your post.

PR or Purple Ribbon Bred is a designation UKC is unique for. It cannot be earned. It is evidence of continued purebreeding with the United Kennel Club. "PR" bred dogs are eligible for six generation pedigrees and the owner is assued that the pedigree will be complete. If the dog in question's parents are also Purple Ribbon Bred, the dog is eligible for a 7 generation pedgiree.

Thank you again. We are working on a more complete web page.

PR pedigree

If it takes 6 generations of UKC breeding. Not trying to be mean, but confused.
How can some of the Russell Terriers, who were just admitted, have "PR" pedigrees???

Six generations recorded, a minimum three generations registered.

'PR' titles

Thank you for the information. Both parents of my dog are 'PR' dogs acording to the papers I have, so that makes my dog a 'PR' dog as well? And if so, in order to keep the 'PR' in any future dogs I must breed him with another 'PR' dog, or just one with a minimum of three generations registered with the U.K.C. and six with another recognized organization? Once agian thank you for your time. I am new to the whole thing and want to ensure that I keep my dog and any of his offspring as pure bred as possible.

I think you understand it now. Yes, a dog from two PR parents is automatically PR and yes, if you breed your PR dog, you must breed it to a dog with a minum of three generations of registered parents so the pups will be PR Bred.
