Just aint got the nerve

Ive been pondering on the idea for sometime now. I have a decent job, no money made but it is secure, been here for 10+ years now. I sell a few dogs only to help support the hobby and to pay some bills on occassion. I have thought seriously about starting a small business, you know something like a hunting supply, feed store, gun shop, or other, but just cant seem to make myself take that first step. I wouldnt want to quit my job to do it, just kind of a side thing. I guess thats what holds some of us back in life, the fear of failing. Just thought Id get your thoughts on it.

Hi Shannon............I see you are from clintwood........I grew up in Big Stone Gap.....yes....a powell valley man....lol.

I understand your predicament. I think the first step would be to get a good understanding of your demographics.......to really see if you would be able to have the consumers that you would need to make it a success. Clintwood is a pretty depressed area.....just like all the surrounding area of norton, wise, bsg, appalachia etc. There are plenty of hunters for sure but i would get specific on which aspect of hunting supply you want to target.

good luck....

Good advice,id get in the car with the family ride around about two or three hours and look at your prospective custermer base, if you think there is a good market and economic stability in your area id concider it, you might go to walmart and look at what they sell the most of and Kmart or any other local sporting good, just to see whose buying what and how much.
dont be hasty , you have plenty of time
