A Mans Love For His Dogs

Let me tell you a story of how much My husband loves his Black and Tan Hounds. Terry Tolliver is the coonhunter that was critically injured last Nov. 14th of 2006, we have 3 dogs Jenny, Brutus, and Molly. After being home since June 2007, and the dogs being kept up since the wreck he had finally realized this was no life for his dogs and decided if you love them enough you will do what is best for them, with that in mind he gave Adam half owner of the male dog Brutus. Brutus is a pup from Jenny and his dad was Ole Duke that was hit by a car and died in Feb.2006,we had Ole Duke since he was a pup, it nearly like to have killed us when he had found him lying in a ditch. Ole Duke was the one we hunted with our daughter when she was little our daughter enjoyed going with Ole Duke. Brutus means alot to us cause he is the next generation from Ole Duke. Since Adam has had Brutus he has really done great, he is just now in his prime. Molly one of the females that is 21 months old well he had given her to a young boy Kalub 13 years old who Adam has been taking hunting for a while now, he wanted a dog for his self so my husband thought it would be a good idea to give him Molly. The oldest dog Jenny well come to find out she had been injured in the wreck and we had know idea that any thing was wrong with her. We took her to the vet. she had a hernia which was from the impact of the wreck its is hard to think that she didn't die form that, we got her back today and is keeping her in the house he decided to kept her and let her be a pet.
My husband plains on hunting again but he realizes it might be a while, so when Molly should have pups while we'll just start all over again. It hurt him to let them go but if you are a true coonhunter you do what is best for the dogs and not for yourself. He know that they are in a good home and well taken care of and we can always go and watch them hunt.

We keep praying for Terry. Sounds like he has mad some tough decisions but al least he is keeping his head up and plans to make it back into hunting one day. Tell him not to give up. I know its tough but tell him to keep the faith. God bless him and your whole family for the ordeal that you all have been through.

Tricia,

Thanks for the post. That was very good. I know it must have been hard to let those dogs go for Terry and you. We considered it a honor to hunt those dogs for you and I am sure Terry would do the same for me or any other of his buddys that hunt. I appreciate ya'lls faith in me to take care of the dogs for you. And hunting Brutus has been alot of fun. We are taking Molly tonight so we are excited about it. I hope she picks up where she left off like Brutus did. I hope Terry's doctor appointment went well today!!

Ya'll take it easy and we will be in touch!

Adam

Terry I Hop you have a fast recovery!!

A man will do almost any thing for his dog. I have a 9 month old pup out of Abbots Elk River Rattler and a few weeks ago she ran a coon into a hole/ rock clif about 12in. high or less and she was really far back in there. I called and called and called for her but she just would come out. I then decided I wasn't going to just let my dog go like that, so I took off all my clothes except my jeans and a t-shirt. Not to mention it was about 28 degrees outside and started back into the hole/clif. I got about 10 feet back into the hole and she finally came to me.
Once again good luck with your dog and I hope Terry recovers soon. Will keep you in our prayers.
