Big litters
Do hounds that have big litters predispose their pups to having big litters? I have seen a lot of post with dogs having excess of a dozen pups at a time, is this common in hounds in general, in hounds that come from big litters or is it just spontaneous?
my old tippie dog had 18 pups. the pup i kept is my hardknocken
stylish flip dog he has sired one litter of pups and it was only 5 pups

I'd be curious to know how many breedings took place to get these large litters.
Me too... Our female was x-rayed at 6-8 pups and was bred ONCE. I will know the exact in a few days when they hit the ground.. Same as our last litter. One breeding and 9 pups....

my original theory is that females from large litters are predisposed to punching out more eggs...therefore more pups. this means that males from large litters are only slightly effected in terms of they might be able to punch such genetic characteristics down to their daughters. We all know that thousands to millions of sperm are released by the male and the female only release so many eggs (thats where I think it might be affected). I do not really know if this is true or false...Like I said its just my theory.
