Antibiotics should work. But if it is bad, go to the vet.

Kennel Cough, he will get over it. You could have Vaccinated him for it.

If the dog is coughing a lot then it is kennel cough like Chiggers said.It will run its coarse in 2 or 3 weeks. It is highly contagious.
Every dog on your place will get it.Keep the dog away from your buddies dogs until about a week after it quits showing symptoms.
I believe Gayle Flowers told me to give them Tylan 200 for it.
You can get it at any farm store. It is injectable.
You may want to ask Gayle to be sure.He usually checks the board once or twice a day.

This dog needs to go to the vet..and fast. Kennel cough does not go away without meds...the symptoms do but not the virus.

Dogs dont get "colds" like you or I. Self medication with antibiotics without knowing the source can make things worse rather than help.

The reason most antibiotics are not for over the counter sale is because some people tend to throw them at an animal without first properly diagnosing the symptoms. I do as much home remedy as i can..but this one needs a vet. Prior to just showing up I'd let them know what you have, if it's contagious kennel cough..they may opt to come to you, or see your dog in the parking lot so they dont infect others in the clinic. Good luck.
