Scoring question
Dog A, B and C are all treed. Dog D is struck in and running on the hill side.
The five minutes run out on the a,b,c tree and the cast goes to score and the tree is circled. The lead away from the tree about 100 yards, handlers had to cross water and one guy did not have rubber boots so he had to walk up around the neck of the pond about 10 feet or so. Dogs A and B were collared waiting on dog C to arrive and if was only a few seconds different. dog C collars his dog and waiting for dog D to bark to replaese the collared dogs to him as soon as Dog D barks the handler trees him before any dogs can be cut loose.
My question is, does dog D have to wait the five mintues to be scored or can the cast proceed to the tree and score it right a way?
I would say no. Al dogs are treed until released. They were not released so proceed to the tree.

Dogs on a leash are the same as a dog treed. If he is treed before the rest of the cast is cut back in, go strait to the tree.

you guys are probably right but to me a dog handled is different than a dog treed. The tree had been scored for 4 m intues.
I do see you point however i just don't think thewy should be considered treed when we are standing 100 yards from a tree.
It did not make any different in the outcome of the hunt nor was there even a quesion on it but i would sure like for UKC to give an answer on how all dogs could be considered treed and were standing in the middle of a pasture?
is this that lame of question you dont want to take the time to type your opinion to such a dubm question or are you still thinking the situation over? your reply would be helpful!!!!! Thanks
Mleck
and for everyone else heres your answer. You do not have to wait the five minutes on the fourth dog.The three dogs on the leash and are still considered treed until or unless they are re cast .This was covered in the advisor.

Go straight in and score it. I sure would not have wanted to walk 100 yards to cut my dog back loose.Thats what did it.. I'd be begging to cut back loose faster specially if dog d was battling for the lead lol....
