A question most seem to get wrong.
Allen, Todd and Paul, please dont give up the correct answer for a little while.
Question. All dogs are cut loose, after a bit A, B, and C open and shortly after are treed. Tree is scored and before they can cut dogs back loose dog D is struck and treed. Here is the question, what does dog D getas his strike points?.
question
25
100 if a, b, or c hadnt opened yet

All dogs have to be released and competing for strike for 100 strike points to be available. Dog D would have to strike in for next available which would be 25.

25. Good job Jeffrey. Seeing the rule as written. Its 25 cause other 3 dogs have not been cast yet and there on the lead.

So a dog gets punished for striking its own track?Thats mest up.Almost as bad as giving the automatic strike dog 100 points. Some rules don't reward the coondogs.

That dog took to long to strike its own track . A tree has been scored , no advantage to the slacker!
If 3 dogs get struck and treed and tree is scored before dog d gets struck 25 all it deserves in my eyes.

he sure wouldnt strike in for 100 the other 3 dogs r on the leash. Now if all dogs was turn back lpose and he struck bfore the other 3 then he would strike in for 100

if no dog is holding a lower strike position once a position has been scored it becomes available again all dog were scored 100

The tree they scored could have been slick or they were running trash so the broke dog went on....I'm just sayin a dog that goes and strikes a new track only gettin 25 points seems kinda lopsided.
First tree had coon.
This is really pretty simple (in my eyes) Dog D gets 25 on strike. Strike position does not open back up UNTIL ALL dogs are off the chain and competing for strike points. Thus until the judge tells the handlers to recast their hounds, this drop is to be considered all one track.
Several (I believe) have gotten this right.

So ?
What's supposedly the right answer? I would have said 25 based on all aren't running competing for strike but I could see where that is a loop hole if they all scored u could snake 100 out of it

I would think that once a tree is scored that set of strike points are over. Some I'm gonna guess 100.Id have to put a question on the card.
25

quote:Ok, here's the deal with this question. The answer is found in rule 2(a), as Dogwhisper states in his post. The problem is George is reading from the old rule book. The 2011 rule book states in rule 2(a) "All dogs must be off leash in order for any dog to recieve 100 strike points." However this sentence does not exist in the new 2014 rule book! Is that signiicant in this scoring situation? Only UKC cn say.........

100 points, 11b on 2014 score card. Basically treed dogs are released after scoring to compete for remaining strike points.

quote:original post said dogs have not been cut yet. therefore dog D only gets 25 on track and 125 on tree. its in the second edition advisor. all dogs must be off the leash for strike points to open up again. if you think about it, its not fair for a dog taking all night to tree a coon to receive 100 strike points when the other dogs are on a lead and cant even compete. if the dogs were cut and a second later that dog struck then he would receive 100 on strike.

Jim , that indeed is the case, but I will score this situation on precedents.
