what trait do you dislike the most

what is the trait that bothers you the most. What kind of dog do you refuse to feed.

I hate a silent dog

Dispostion. A dog's disposition in the kennel and in the woods will determine how long it will eat my feed. I can deal with other faults for awhile if I can get along with the dog.

a mean one! Anyone should be able to walk into any one of my kennels and stick a hand in the dogs mouth, take its food, yank pull or pet and if that dog turns the slightest bit it is gone. I have kids and I haul to many events and to top it all off the breed standard states should be good natured... all but when that ringed bandit is on the ground and then they still need to know what they are bitting!

in order....

1. Ill.......I won't tolerate this long at all....Like one, maybe 2 times

2. Slick trees......You could get by with 5 to 10 before you change hands or worlds.

3. Not knowing their name. I won't stand out there long in silence for no reason. If he is running that is one thing, if he is just out doing his thing and won't come in becasue he just don't want to......Again not many times will this happen for me. Either change hands or worlds.

I hate mean dogs and a dog that cant work a track, especailly an easy one. I will feed a trash runner as long as it doesnt bark in the kennel and knows how to tree a coon AND IS SMART!!!! I am not color bling, I love all the breeds, but if it is any of the above it isnt staying long!!!unless it grows on me as a pet!!!lol
happy huntin and God bless

I would rather have one that babbled a LITTLE (that means the first couple of minutes) than one that makes you sit all nite and then BAM TREED

I dont have just 1. There are several I just wont tollerate. Here they are in sort of order:

1) Mean= instant death

2)silent= might hunt one, but WILL NOT BREED one

3) babblers. Dont mind a few yips when they are leaving in company, but cant stand one that runs around barking untill they find a track to run.

4) stand on there heads track dogs. Wont feed them long.

5) trashy dogs. I will break the good ones, but they better be realy realy good when they are running coon. I hate one who can make a deer track fly, but cant run a bad coon track to save there lives.

6) me too dogs. Ranks right up there with the mean ones. If they cant hold pressure, or always stick with a buddy, there gone.

7) stupid. Ive seen some with all the natural tallent in the world, but the lights were on and no one was home.

8) lazy. I cant stand a dog who wants to walk with me. Just about as bad is one who is gone for 30 minutes and strikes within a few hundred yards. I want them slinging dirt when they leave and not see them agian untill I get to the tree.

Jeesh...I cant believe my number one NO NO hasn't been mentioned yet. I HATE...absolutely HATE a dog that barks in the kennel for so reason! I can deal with barking because something ran through the yard..or even if they see you coming out to feed them. But barking just to hear themselves...no, not gonna last here.

Another one is stupidity. If I've put in my time, and you're still too dumb to tree a released, soaked through, worked up coon,...you're gone. Likewise, if I know coon are there..and the conditions are right..and the dog just cant find a coon (or I see one sitting up and the dog doesn't make a bark)..gone

Leaving trees irritates me too.

Not being english is bad...it better shine in another department.

Shyness is the first thing that gets one culled around here.

Posted by Fox Farms on 07-23-2007 10:42 PM:

chopper1954, you better not even think about a buying a buck creek dog then! they are terrible about being shy.

Babbling again is something the night hunters like! 1st strike Give me a semi-silent dog and I'll hunt all night. Its all in what everyone likes.

Im not bashing the babblers if thats what you want. Its just not for me.

Getting treed without barking isn't much fun either. Needs to bark honestly to stay at my house.

Fox Creek, I never heard that about the Buck Creek dogs before. But I would work on alot of faults with a pup before I'd waste time on a shy one.

A dog without enough brains to NOT step in it's own poop. I clean my kennels twice a day, if a dog feels as though it must "finger paint" with poop here, it's gone! Shyness sucks too. I can fix most of the other bad traits if the dog has half a brain. wd
