How would you stop cheating in Hunts?

First let me say that I don't feel that there is as much cheating goes on as some may let on.

I am just curious as to how would you, if you were running UKC or any KC, handle cheating. What suggestions would you make to a panel on how to do deal with cheating? Not only setting punishments but how to set punishments to the point of deterring the cheating to start with?

Again just curious as to what some would say...

I know me and some buddies will kick this topic around from time to time as I am sure others probably have also.

Friends and I have had this discussion many times and our end always comes up with all KC's recognizing each others suspended lists.

Real simple, if you cheat and get caught YOUR OUT!!! Cheating ruines it for everyone. Coon hunting is supposed to be competitive and fun at the same time. It's not a matter of life and death. I've never had a problem with getting beat by the better dog that night. To many people have lost sight of what this sport is about. Go out there, have fun, make some new friends, and let the dogs do the work.

I will agree 100%... it is to easy if a person gets caught in this KC to just start hunting the other KC's...

I agree.Cheaters will always cheat so Barr them for life. Also don't let the crooks come over here and hunt.Be nice if there stud dog ads in the Bloodlines would say owner is barred for cheating. No matter what kc.

The answer is plain and simple. Just follow the rules and policies already in place and it will stop. The biggest problem any registry faces is in the hunters themselves. NO ONE will sign on the dotted line to start a misconduct hearing. That is plain and simple the reason it will never stop. You want to complain, but you don't want to help stop it by stepping up and being counted. Thats my take.

The only way to put a stop to cheating in the hunts is to stop having them.

The best you can hope for is an honest draw with honest houndsmen. The problem is that some people have such a desire to win anything they will do whatever it takes to do it.

If you take a picture I am pretty sure you will have broken the rules also.

The clubs need to assign the scorecard to an honest person. If the judge is honest then the cast will be honest. When the club gives the scorecard to a dishonest person it reflects back on the club.

First of all most of us don't even know when we have been cheated! how many times have you been on a 3dog cast ,2 dogs treed and just happens bost of the handles of the dogs treed see the coon? certian dogs get drawn in certian cast( you will never know this happens! Some times its not the big time handler that screw you, it might be the no name guy in the cast that votes with the big time handles just to try to closer to the main man.
If ukc would get directly involve with the rule inforcement instead of making the hunters prove thier point. Here is the best at big hunts EVERY ONE is subject to a liedetector test. Bass fishing already does this!!! I am not tring to bash UKC in any way I think UKC is the best out there, and to be honest I have not been cheated that much( i feel there is a Differance between being cheated and a handler just getting a break) Ihave many agreat hunt and met lots of good folks but sometimes something needs done. 1 more thing Everyone please notice the guys that has been bared frome other kcs and who they are hanging with at the hunts? That will tell the rest of the story!!! Birds of a feather will flok togeather!

Posted by rdmedders on 10-23-2013 03:18 AM:

That says a lot about a man that would cheat in a hunt & it not bother them!

Most so called cheaters bring a better dog than you do to a competition hunt. You do gooders wear me out. If you have ever accepted a plus point that you did not have coming or argued against receiving a minus point that you had coming, then you have cheated. If you circled a tree you knew a coon was not in, then you have cheated. I am always amazed at those that get on here and have to tell us again, just how honest they are. I work in the justice system. It would take me about 10 minutes to find something on all of you. I would start with your tax return.

Bengie great post..I would go one step further, if your banned by one kennel club you shouldnot be allowed to compete in the other kennel clubs events either..Its an embarsment to see a cheat banned from one kennel club win a major hunt in another..If the kennel clubs banned together, we could get rid of these cheats..

I made that same comment in another post.. and just threw out there maybe even put it on the dog also... that they can't register litters out of the dog in question also... instead of allowing the person caught to just put the dog in someone else's name and continue on... and that might be over kill but just a thought...

to the reply about all of us "do gooders" my bible tells me that we are not perfect and that we are going to sin daily.. so therefore I am not saying that we haven't done something at some time in our lifes or even in hunts... and you know what... there has been some situations in the woods that was voted on by the cast and ruled up on and moved on to find out later that it wasn't handled correctly... I am sure that situations like that happens and where all four members of the cast agree with the outcome... but what I am talking about is the out right "KNOWING I AM CHEATING"..

As long as there is people with low morals an no integrity there will be cheating. But for the most part people think they got cheated because they don't know the rules

Posted by Nelson Kirkland on 10-23-2013 04:02 PM:

So if we decide as a group to do something wrong, and no one in the group knows it is wrong (imagine that!) then it is ok? You can't be serious. What about the guy that is sitting at the club house with a score card scored correctly that gets bumped to a lower placing or no placing at all because you think it is ok? I like your take on 'there are cheaters, and then there are nice cheaters.' Does your bible say you can judge?

True, and the fact they don't work hard enough through the week to train a good dog.
