Hills Science Diet Dog Food?

Few months ago on here after one of our Dog Food discussions, I had a couple friends call. Both from different parts of the country and both happy with Hills Science Diet.
I always asked my wife why she was buying that over priced food for our house dogs and had negative thoughts about it.
Now after feeding it for a while, I can't say I don't like it and the dogs seem to be doing good on it.

The hounds seem to be in shape but just slightly on the lean side and not fat like some other feeds do. I just got a female back from a friend that raised 11 pups from her and she was in poor shape. In three weeks she has responded well and looks good. Actually looks like I need to hunt her more.
I have 4 pups on it now and they look great. Nice fat and rounded backs with no hip bones showing. Of course with the pups I credit me keeping on top of their worming schedule as worms can affect them real fast.

Other than the higher price does anyone have an opinion on Hills Science Diet and long term effects of feeding it to their dogs.

I guess I'm stuck on the protein thing, I can't find that they have anything higher than 23%. I'd like atleast 30% protein.

I'm a label reader too Jim. I've never seen anything that is priced reasonably enough from Science Diet to make me want to go out and try it. From what I have read on here, sounds like they use quality ingredients. I will stick wit Pro Plan until I can find something that is significantly better and as cost effective.

I fed my dogs Science diet healthy development 26/18 for 4 months. Only reason was to see if her thyroid numbers would go up naturally. Little to no clean up and stools were hard shiny coat. Only reason I stopped using it was I can get proplan a whole lot cheaper.

I have fed science diet and I think it is a quality feed. I just don't think it has enough protein and fat content for a hard working dog. I feed native level 4 and I believe it is one of the best feeds on the market for a working dog. Taste of the wild is another good feed. I know a lot of people complain about the cost on these feeds but if you break it down to the amount of feed that is needed too keep a dog up they are just a few cents higher per day or even cheaper.
