Hello everyone. There have been a few inquiries about the banquet this year. At the last Directors meeting for the HTDA conducted in December it was decided to forego a winter banquet this year.
There are several reasons for this but a couple of highlighted reasons were, participation and membership willingness to help.
It takes a lot of effort and planning to pull off a successful banquet. Immediately following last years banquet I approached or contacted via email several members to assist with the effort. A couple contacted me back but the rest either never contacted me back or failed to respond when I followed up.
In light of that fact, I knew the officers and directors could have worked hard and put a banquet together but to what end? This is members based organization and it is exactly what you as members put into it. When we have low member support, we cannot accomplish our goals in the legislative arena and our work with other organizations is hampered.
That being said, it was decided that a mid summer picnic/pitch in and membership gathering would be planned this even could include a benefit auction, family activities, camp out, fellowship hunt, competition hunt etc etc. the sky is the limit. So I am throwing it out there for volunteers to help. We need an event chairperson, committee members to plan a location and a schedule of events. If you are interested, contact me. I will be happy to help our members plan such an event. My number is: (812) 584-7402 call or text.
This organization can be exactly what our members put into it. I will be anxiously awaiting your response. We will need to proceed immediately to truly make this a worthy event. Please respond by 03-01-17.
Thank You.
