RIP Johnny Knowles
I saw on Facebook where Mr. Johnny had past away. He was a major participant in the BBCHA in years past. He was a wonderful person with lots of knowledge about dogs. (Bluetick and OMC). He will be missed.

Johnny Knowles
Johnny was a 47 year server as a BBCHA Board Member, and was a past president of the association. He lived in Huntsville, TX.
If you ever hunted with him, you would remember him as a "high stepper." I ranked him up there with Bus Thompson and Delma Smith for hard going in the woods. Johnny didn't like to ride a mule, but he could stay up....with him walking and everybody else riding.
Bill Foster wrote a nice article about Johnny in the 2014 BBCHA Historical Blue Book. Johnny placed a full page ad in the 2015 book featuring Knowles Little Butch (circa 1970), which may have been his cooner of a lifetime.
In speaking with him the last time, he asked how old I was. When I told him he said, "Shoot man. I've got suits older than you!" I believe he was 88 years old. A staunch Bluetick man; although he went to squirrel dogs in later years.

AMAZEN COONHOUNDS
visited with Johnny many times at the Fall Round-ups over the years. always a lesson in bloodlines.
in addition to his Little Butch he had a hound called Lucifer that surely could tree coons. was a bit off colored but was a good one.
while working in the Texas gulf coast area in the 93-95 time span called him and quickly got an invite to come visit.
sure glad I did,
Don Cummings
