New club troubles

I am having trouble to find out where and if I need to to file for a non profit with the IRS and is it a requirement for UKC?

You can go to the IRS website and apply for an EIN tax number. It is not that expensive and they will mail you the information. I know in Virginia you do have to register as a non profit organization and we done that through there website as well. I do not believe it is a requirement however it is strongly suggested.
