Western Pennsylvania

There's a young man living in western Pennsylvania that's looking to buy a walker puppy. I was friends with his dad who tragically died a few years ago in a farm tractor accident. I believe he's 13 or 14 now. He's very into deer hunting and has started trapping coon with his step dad. His mom called me last night and asked if I knew anyone selling pups because he wants to get into coon hunting and raise and train his own pup. I don't know their money situation but I doubt they have hundreds to spend on a pup but could probably come up with a reasonable fee. I'll list the town they're from when I can, it slips my mind now but I know it's in Greene County. He'd like a walker but blood line isn't important to him and I doubt he even knows there's a difference. If any of you guys have a litter please let me know. Thanks.

Al if the boy doesnt have a support system of other coon hunters i would recommend to the mom that an old, even over the hill coondog will teach the young man how to coon hunt and get him hooked.
Through the years i have seen lots of kids get a pup thinking they are gonna train it and 2 years later the kid has lost interest, and the pup is living its life on a chain. JMO.

I agree with you 100% I'm going to try to get some info on coon hunting clubs in their area (if there are any) and maybe he can go on a hunt night and meet some hunters and see some dogs. A lot of times coon hunters have big hearts and they'll get lucky enough to find someone to take them hunting a time or two. I'll relay this info to his mom about an older dog rather than a pup. Thanks.

I'll try to find it. I was a spectator on a cast with him years ago, he was the judge of the cast. He earned my respect that night and was packing a coondog to boot!
