What do you guys do when your dogs pull up short? What do you do if the coon is in the next tree over?

I go back to the truck to look at pedigree again to figure out where the skuna river might have slipped in

If a tree is slick ...Take them off the tree walk them about 50 ft and recast the dog..Most of the time they will go on and tree the coon....A lot of those trees could be coon laying up and coming down as they hear your dog coming on there trail..That happens a lot....

I have had dogs like that and have seen dogs like that, I have walked them on and re-casted but could never bring them out of it. Can they really get past that problem ? If there is a method I would like to know.
