Need Help Please!!

I have a 20 month old walker male that has been outstanding until about November and he just went to running n treeing coons on a daily basis to running and tracking something and never treeing. he will run a track over a mile and never come treed, he is independent as they come with all the ability to be great but for some reason I don't understand what his deal is lately. he will not and never really has backed other dogs and he has caught a skunk the last time I took him and ran a big mile long circle right after that and never coming treed...is there anywhere I can send him for a few months to get him straightened out or any tips?? thanks in advance!

Not sure, but he may be running game that don't climb trees! You might try turning a few loose for him so you know for sure what he is running and if he trees them then you may have a trash problem. Good luck.

Kyle, off hand, since I haven't hunted with him; if you are sure he doesn't have a health problem, tick disease, thyroid issue, etc. I would say he has a "long game" problem and can usually be helped by applying Tri-tronics discriminately. That said, even most trashy young dogs will tree a coon once in a while since November; I would check his health first, take him to OSU and have him checked for tick bourn diseases and check his thyroid levels; have his ears looked at too; if you are feeding a corn or wheat gluten based feed; he could have allergies. There are lots of things that can cause a dog to go "off his game", but I would check his health first and work from there. If I can help you in any way, just ask. Tom Prithcett

id say hes running off game. take him deer hunting with the e-collar. if you dump him on a deer and hes runs it then you will know. try the same with oposums, catch one and see what he does when you cut it loose.
