"PR" Melton's Tad Bit Of Spice. My first Coonhound.
I have a 7 month old English Coonhound, I have wanted a coonhound since I was very young, I was not allowed to have a big dog instead often me and my grandpa would go walking out in our 45 acres of woods in the night with a light and gun untill we found possums or coons to protect the poultry and feed from being eat by them. It sparked love and memories i'll never forget. My grandpa passed away in Aug 2010 we were very close. In October of this year I was able to get my first hound. A phone call and 6 hours later I was soo proud I had my first pup and from there on i've been training hard core. All I want to do is do right by him! I've had little help with working with him I pretty much think he's a natural! I just want to see if his most recent video of him on a cage coon if he's acting right for his age and sounds okay. Also going to post a few pictures of him. His name is Tad or "PR" Melton's Tad Bit Of Spice and he has 13 Ch's and Gr Nt Ch's on just his four Gen pedigree Sire is english bluetick some of his bloodline is GR nite CH Cabin creek rowdy, GR nite CH GRCH Oklahamas little blue gal, GR nite CH Michigan swamp rooster, GR nite CH balls virgina swamp rooster, and lots of briar creek in the bloodline. Dam is English redtick some of her bloodline is CH GR nite CH Cedar creek streak, GR nite CH Gibsons blue boy sunny, GR nite CH Neuse River Rambo, CH GR nte Ch Lee's Creek Magnum TJ, GR nite CH GRCH Wilcox thunder Bingo, and lots of Cedar creek bloodline. Sire has long ball on track short ball chop on tree. Dam has has long ball on track fast chop on tree.
Me and Tad have a bond that I have never had with any other dog it's just out of this world! He'd lay down his life for me and has warned me of many things already and will honestly stand on his back feet and put his paws on my chest and push me away then go back to a cage coon to keep me away from it if it's jumping at me in the trap. I was out in the woods with him the other day and he seen a man watching me up the hill and he stood head lowered hair raised watching this man with not a sound coming from him he wanted me to know that someone was there.
Anyway skip down to the point!
Meet Tad! (Click below for video) Anyway How does he sound in his video ? Does he act alright for being a 7 month old ? He already will go off on his own. He has no other older dogs to learn off I have drug the cage coons off into the woods pretty far out there and he'll go to them everytime even if I wait a while before letting him go. I also want to be able to bench show him too and hunt him at shows too someday! But for now we have the home woods to go out to play in.
Tad training to stack LOL it's hard since hes pretty much always on the move!
This is a couple days after I got him!
