Here Kitty

I took my young dog Omega out for a short run Tuesday afternoon. Right off the drop he tossed his head in the air and those ears were up in the air like 2 radar dishes scanning the forest for movement/sound or scent. All the sudden he charged over the side of the hill like a kangaroo. In a couple minutes here he come back up the hill with a chipmunk he had caught. He brought it right to me but I had to do a little begging to get him to release it. That was OK. At first I didn't think he was going to be a retriever.
Went on around the hill and rounded a point that opened up into some big woods that was really clean underneath. Again before going farther than the edge of the point Omega put his senses to working scanning the forest. All the sudden BAM he was off to the races again. Out in front of me about 60 yds I saw something huge run up a hickory. I mean it looked huge. I 1st thought Mountain Lion! Omega ran to the tree and gave about 4 barks and the animal bailed out of the tree over the hill. Right on its tail was Omega. I thought to myself ole boy if you grab this thing you will soon find out its no chipmunk.

The creature, I still didn't have it identified went straight over the hill not gaining a inch on Omega. I thought sure he was going to catch it . Then all the sudden it ran up another tree about 12 feet and jumped back up the hill. Again Omega was right on his tail. They were coming up towards me and when it crossed the road 30 yds in front of me I was able to make a positive ID on what it was. A bob cat and the largest one I have ever saw. Omega weighs 26 lbs and it looked 3 times his size. May have been mostly fur but still was a big cat with a big head.

Your a lucky man, most folks hunt all their lives, and never see a bobcat in the wild.

COOL!

That would be SO COOL to see! Glad it was NOT a mountain lion! Although that would be cool to see with MORE than one dawg..... and a good gun along for safety.....
